Hey all. If you all caught my last thread a few weeks ago, about how there's some gunk in the matted parts at my roots, and we all came to the conclusion that it's the shampoo (DHHQ) that I didn't rinse out well enough. Well it's been probably 2 weeks and a half since I washed my hair (Or showered. Don't ask me why.) and I have two that still have a sticky feeling if I press on the matted hair, and when I took a shower just now I spent 20 mins in hot water pressing and rubbing it with two hands, and it's still there hanging out. I don't know where to get any of those ACV items, or anything that I know of, but what could I do to get rid of it? It doesn't feel gunky when you touch it, it looks like dry matted hair, but in the core it's still there. PS: Is what I'm explaining, what Wax-users experince? If so... my good god.
Haha, yeah I know but the last two and a half weeks I've been swimming every couple days, so I figured 'What the hell' and put off showering for an extra few days, ahah.
apple cider vinager is available in ANY food store. should be with the oils and the vinagers. i'd try a baking soda deep cleanse. should work for you. it might just be a greasy buildup from not showering at this point and not the soap.
I think its all in your head man, your paying atention to minor details that really arent a big issue, relax
what shampoo do you use now? that sounds like what happened to my hair when i tried liquid bronners. tho i wasnt notty then so i could just broosh it out :cheers2:
This will be why. You really need to shower after swimming this is why there are shower facilities at pools. All that chlorine crap will still be in your hair there's two weeks of chlorine that will be hard to get out. I don't see how you can go swimming every few days but not shower and think mold will form. If you wash on the day of swimming, by the time you come round to swimming next the hair will be totally dry and no mold will form. uke: at this thread.
avc= apple cider vinegar, you get it at the grocery store. try washing with baking soda, more often than every two weeks.
It's not like I'm a dirty hippy or something jeez haha, I don't know why I didn't shower the last few that's all, but thanks though, I didn't know that about the chlorine
don't worry about it ,dread. if it doesn't itch, don't scratch it. if it isn't greasy or smelly, don't wash it. your hygiene is your own business and all so just do what you do, if you stink i'm sure someone will speak up. others are suggesting a deep clean, but i'm thinking you need some baking soda and a good scrub. for the record, the past few months of swimming regularly i would only wash with water. maybe once every few weeks i'd do some baking soda. i tried dish soap once, and it cleaned real good, but i wouldn't recommend it if your dreads are new. be easy, mmg
Diluted ACV is what you want. A baking soda rinse wont get rid of soap scum but ACV will. Go to any grocery store, and buy some. What exactly did you think ACV was?
I get head gunk and it usually goes away after using some baking soda and water. I know exactly what you are talking about... if you run your nail on your scalp it gunks up under it... some spots are worse than others? It's yuck. I still get it but the baking soda really cuts it down. And if we really want to discuss personal hygiene.. meh to the 2.5 weeks. I go days without showering. But if in chlorine, etc, I'd have to at least rinse myself with water afterwards or the chlorine would make me itch a lot.
Hmmm. I wonder why this hasn't happened to me. ....Maybe if I stop bathing I can have gunky hair just like everyone else!
I don't have any of these problems either. It baffles me that loads of people have problems with gunk/dandruff/etc
