Aye well im not trying to claim am a dred expert or nowt but am jus saying.. this guy said it do nothin at all to stop them joinin but i think he wrong, atleast in my hair it has stoped all ov them from joining at the root i think alot ov them would have coz me hair is thick. Like a said only the 2 or three that a didnt palm roll are the ones that joind an i riped them now after sein the post coz i wasnt sure if u supose to just leave them or not.

a can only be arsed to do the roots when a palm role though an a only do that coz a fken hate all the loose litle bits of hair that hang down me face an makes me look like a fken gypsy, it works for me like coz befor a didnt do it an the hair was all over the shop but now its not ye na?.

i'm curious, i haven't truly seen partially dreaded hair

i always thought it would be hella difficult with just a couple dreads
and if i heard about someone with a couple i'd assume they wax the hell out of that one dread.

 

It's not that uncommon... sorry no pics, but for the first few months, the back half of my head was knotting while the front looked the same as it ever was. It would have stayed unlocked if I hadn't learned to keep my damn fingers out of it. It's weird when people you know are like "how long have you had dreads?" after 6 months of no combing.

 

No wax.... started a few with a slight backcomb at the base and they took off... It's very difficult to get partial dreads started--it took nearly a year for mine to actually feel like they were locking up, as I still had to try to condition the rest of my hair and it was hard to always keep the dreadies separate. Now, the dreads have locked up so tightly that they are much shorter than my non-dreaded hair, of course. Once they achieve a longer length, I think they are going to look much better.

Shadygrov, I had full dreadies until about 3 years ago--missed the versatility of my non-dreaded hair, but also began to miss the artistic expression with dready decor... so I've settled for half and half. I'll get some good pics up soon.
