Anil is The Man, and probably the only one who's going to be able to pull off my idea. He was also on Ripley's Believe It or Not, for his miniature tats. Great stuff, enjoy!

Well, The Man said my idea is going to take 18 hours in three 6 hour sessions....I put down a deposit and made my first appointment, so it's game on.

yeah, the Ripley's thing really put him on the map, it's kinda a mixed blessing for him 'cuz he's gotta weed out the serious potential clients from the ones who are just blowing smoke.
I'm getting Caravaggio's 'Amor Vincit Omni', sometimes just called cupid or Love Conquers All. But, he ain't no cutsie cupid, he is Eros.
I go for the outline in january so stay tuned, I'll post pics if I can get decent. When the whole thing is finished, Anil is going to take some.
    -and thanks

I've spent like hours looking at his stuff :) And his portrait work and the other fine arts stuff is why I think he's the only one around that can do this justice. If done wrong, I could be stuck with a grinning Alfred E. Neuman for the rest of my life.

We'll I've got the first session and the outline under my belt 7 days ago, so right now it's in the itchy stage. It's a lot bigger than I had originally envisioned, it takes up my whole left side basically from under my boob to about my belly button. Speaking of which, my boob is in the way so I can't see it when I look down, which is the first time my boobs has ever been in the way of anything. :p
It's really awkward trying to take pics, my arm isn't quite long enough to get the whole thing in the frame, I'm going to need somebody's help. I also debate whether to post pics at all, the outline stage is kinda cartoon looking, but I'll probably want to have the pics for the future. Be patient with me, I was a work in progress even before this

I'm very impressed with your tattoo, why did you decide on that?

Also, since he is such a celebrity, how much DID you pay him for it? I'm scared to know, because of the time and effort that was put into it must have been great for such a beautiful piece.

The Why of it is hard to quantify, I just had to have it..I think for the most part it was the kinky smile...

OMG don't go there, I cringe to think of it. Saying I'm not exactly rich is an understatement. But I decided if I was gonna do it, do it right. My original idea was to have it half that size but Mr. Anil rightly pointed out that they only way to to it justice was to make it a bit bigger.

Thank you all for your compliments.
I will post more pics when it's done and a link if Anil decides to post it to his website portfolio. Sooo psyched!

Well, for the most part it's finished. I was supposed to take another trip in to have The Man Himself take the pix for his portfolio. The coloring on the dark fields on the shield came out a little uneven, and when I emailed His Wife (that's how it works) and told her that since I was unemployed, at the end of my benefits with no promise of an extension (at that moment, it since passed) I didn't have the money to spend on a trip to the city, gas, tolls, parking -it adds up, I wouldn't be making another appointment right away and would get in touch when cash flow allowed.
WELL I got back a seriously snotty email explaining to me how she lives in the same world and how tough it is to keep the ball rolling over there and that an hour's worth of touch-up would start at $300/hr. What's killing me now is that I coulda SWORE somewhere in the masses of forms and contracts I signed (of which I only was made copies of a few) said something about an hour's touch up being in the bargain. None of which I can find.

Folks fly in from all over the world, pay thousands for tattoos, I'm here scraping by on emergency benefits with no jobs in sight, and she lives in the same world. (0-O)

-at some point I got tired of being treated like a peasant, I guess I gotta BUY that right

    300 AN HOUR!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????/ omg.......... !!!!!
the tattoo artists I know do touch ups for free, i know theyre not famous tattooist or nothin :p but theyre really good, and if not free , then they'd do it for cheap like.. they wouldnt charge full price!! but its mostly free i think...

dont leave yourself broke tryin to get it done, just wait a while.

could you ask for the copys of the other things you signed???

Hmmm, that sucks. I know that it sucks to have bad associations with the guy who permanently marked you. I guess the only thing to say is that the message was his wife. Kindly ask to write him directly. Even an over hyped tattooist should take care of his customers.

I've never thought he was that amazing. He is just a very clean tattooist that has been doing it for a while, so he caught on the TV show bandwagon.

Also, in my experience, tattoos should need very little touch up work. If you cared for it well and he didn't overwork the skin, you probably shouldn't have needed a touch up. I'm 60+ hours into my tattooing without needing a single touch up.
