I would have posted this in hipravers but that forum is even deader than this one. So how is the scene where you are? Any good parties lately? Remember PLUR? It's completely non existant here, such a shame. I would consider throwing a huge one in the woods somewhere but I don't have enough money and I'm not connected yet. I'm in eastern Massachusetts btw.
We usually have "house gatherings" here...basically about 20-30 people crammed into an apartment or a basement, rolling and tripping, with blaring techno, tons of lights, and a few fine ladies walking around pampering people. This week, though, Merlefest is in town...tons of heads, campgrounds for miles...and I'll be heading in with a vial, 50 hits of 2-CE and 120 grams of dried San Pedro. Fuck raves.
The scene's pretty much dead where I'm at. It used to be really good, but it's gone down hill. There are some parties but they mostly really suck. Shitty dj's, tired music, negative people, fights, drug deals gone bad... Like the post above says, we usually just do our own thing. Some friends have lots of land, and we'll get PA's, some turntables, and just light it up outside in the woods, or in a barnm etc. Commercial parties suck!
Yeah now I really am thinking about throwing a house gathering as LSD said. Just have no place to go, which is quite a problem.
You don't need an apartment or basement...anywhere where authority figures aren't going to be apparent...the woods, midnight at the park, a friends' house...Hell, ask anybody you get to buy you alcohol/cigarettes if they know a straight place. Where there's drugs and music...people will follow.
theres a rave 'bout ever day here, but not very good ones. i still love 'em tho... damn. i really love raving.
The scene here on the coast is still alive, but barely. There's good raves and shit, but not as often as I would like. One club has already been shut down because of the drugs. But at least we still have kandi kids spreading P.L.U.R
around here the rave scene is pretty non existant. in salt lake however it's a bit more prominient. in Idaho Falls. there's just like house party sort of raves. there might be some super underground rave place but i haven't heard of it.
Its on the bones of its arse round here, too many underage'rs going out and getting pissed and taking shite £1 'e' tablets and putting glass botles over people heads .. Way too much violence in my town to enjoy a night out .. you got to travel if you wanna get off your head with other likewise thinkers ..
holy thread revival this thing is old! texas has plenty of raves. clubs, massives, outdoor festivals, glitch cave parties, ambient beach parties. It also has a well established psytrance scene. The psy parties are a little more underground but well worth it to find out about! several prominent psy producers live here, and we regularly book international talent.
Colorado has allot of big partys, and pretty much every weekend some kind of smaller rave. I wish we had more psytrance style stuff going on out here though,
In New York,(i live on Long Island) the scene......wait what scene? Im 18, and never heard of a rave or any kind of party that was decent. the city is always kickin with parties, but it seems LI is dead. all the clubs around here are for stupid drunks. (sorry, i am against drinking ) Barely any "techno" just hip hop and stuff that was remixed with bigger bass. peace
I live in a shitty town in a shitty state with a likewise shitty scene. There are raves, but they tend to be more "coke with a side of E" parties than old school raves. I was never one for that scene anyway (hate techno), but there are some cool people with decent connections who do small-scale things in this neck of the underground woods. My friends and I tend to favor a group of us wandering the national park nearby tripping balls on shrooms or cacti.
It depends what you consider to be a rave. Music events are still okay but free parties tend to have too many K zombies drooling in the corners and not enough people dancing and generally socialising these days.
My friend, If you have not already discovered the Psytrance festival scene then it is something that I recommend for you beyond all else. It has all the most beautiful aspects of raving (and much, much more) with none of the sketchyness, and dirtyness that comes along with raving. These festivals are held all over the world in the most beautiful natural outdoor locations. Believe me when I tell you that upon going to my first psytrance party (Eclipse Festival in Gatineau, Quebec), I discovered that an atmosphere exists that I had only ever fantacized about in dreams. I raved for years before discovering this scene and I had only ever had tastes of this kind of experience at only the finest raves. PM me if you want to know more about the blissful world of psychedelic trance
