I had one of those thoughts of 'what am I doing with my life?'

and it occured to me, growing weed would be a very nice job for me.

I love sitting and watching and tending to plants, I am very aware and tentative to nature.

Marijuana seems ideal for me not just because I'd get lots of weed, but I like the way in which people farm it. Very controlled, not alot of big machinery, requires very close attention, care and craft. These are things I typically excel at. I'm not a mass producer, I can focus and make perfect very specific things.

But I have no idea how I could possibly get into such a business.

Theres people in canada I've seen, also in the medical states where there is essentially large grow operations for medical marijuana. How would you get a job at one of these places?

Is there like a cannabis college you could go to?

well no, you cant just go to any school. but you easily qualify for Veterans Tuition Awards (VTA) but its just a few dollar off, the rest comes from grants and low interest loans.

http://www.oaksterdamuniversity.com/ - Interesting little school you may want to read up on, I found out about it on CNN.

You also may want to consider going to a major university and studying horticulture. I am going to Texas A&M next semester studying Horticulture, and I may minor in Genetics also, I haven't decided yet. (but I am going goodvibes) Either way, start growing, best teacher is hands-on experience.

Just get some books and start growing. If you want to do it as a job then you'll have to make it happen on your own most likely, most growers are not looking to hire some stranger off the street. If you are serious start small and build up your set up as you learn. You are not going to make a living at it right away, and comercial growing requires a fairly large captial investment upfront for equpiment, a space, and money to live on until you start producing.

There is a "cannabis college" in San Francisco that teaches you to grow for med. purposes.

TBH, I think growing for aliving is like doing any hobby for a living. A lot of the joy gets taken out of it when the stress of making rent relies on it.

Add to that the fact that you'll always be looking over your shoulder for the police and what not and it starts to seem alot less attractive. The law looks for large growers much more aggresively that hobbyist growers, so the danger and stress increase exponentially with the size of your operation. The reason pot is os exspensive is because your are paying somebody else to be willing to get thrown in jail instead of you for growing it. Even legitimate medical growers get wrapped up in legal messes.

Growing for a living is one of those things that sounds really romantic until you hash out all the implications. Pun intended.
