Hate speech, like publicly saying "chink," "spic," or "hooked nose Jew" isn't what the founding fathers had in mind I think. Freedom of speech is alright as long as your words aren't hurting others.
I'm sure you've said something hateful in your life. They promote ideas, stupid ideas, but ideas. Saying someone is an inferior human may be hate speech, but it's not illegal nor should it be, you ban ideas you just make them stronger. There's no implicit violence in hate speech, hence why if it does begin to promote violence, said people will be arrested
Lol, what? That's exactly what they had in mind. Why would you need to protect non-offensive speech? Makes no sense.
Sure, every citizen in America should have the right to say what they want to say. Things get sticky when the things they say are incindiary to the end of causing a risk of harm, harrassing, or endangering of the public in some other form ala the KKK. Freedom of speach doesn't give you a free for all. The limitations imposed on the KKK's right to assemble and speak should because they cause one of the above problems, not because I, among most reasonable people, find it offensive. All in all, I am more than willing to deal with the loonies to have my 1st amendment right.
No, I don't say hateful things to people. And, I don't know the laws about hate speech, but I think it's illegal. There's a saying that "the pen is mightier than the sword." I think that people can believe what they want to, but saying it to others can be inflicting injury.
Well there's other types of speech that aren't allowed in countries, like speaking against a ruler, speaking against some government policy, speaking against some institution, and probably other things. If Masonry was as much a part of the founding fathers ideology as I think it was, I don't think that they meant you have the freedom to afflict others at will with your tongue.
No hate speech isn't illegal, this is why the KKK and flag burners can both have parades down the street in town. We take the 1st amendment pretty seriously. Only speech designed to obviously provoke violence is illegal.
Aris;.... Darling............. The Left positively needs the K K K. It remains a great source of fundraising and editorial fodder. The perfect straw-man for religous conservatives. The hard left would be lost without David Duke and the Republican KKK. In a way, the hard right and hard left are dependent upon each other. George Orwell described it best in the book: 1984 where he compared the eternaly warring empires to exausted boxers: staggering around the ring in the late rounds of the match, grabbing and supporting each other, doing as much to hold each other up as anything else. Where would Al Sharpton be without Davis Duke and visa versa?
They do, but I don't think Nazi cunts should be alowd to have parades. What kind of thing is that to teach a kid?
That free speech applies to all? Why should Maoists be allowed to hold rallies when their ideology has killed millions yet they still support it.
That's exactly what the Nazis did do! So someone that hates nazis supporting that sort've ideology is really puzzling to me. Anyways - I just came into this thread because I read something interesting I didn't know about the KKK. They supported Obama during the democratic primaries. Like me, they were members of AnyoneButHillary08 =P
if you don't like it, pay no mind... just because someone has a right to shout his delusional opinion doesn't mean you are required to pay attention to it.
Speech is harmless until it brings about actions imposed upon others, at which point there should be consequences.
you CAN, but in doing so, you assign it value, especially in the ranks of your own detractors. it is, in the long run, a stupid fucking move.
Ok fine if it will please people who get way into it... I support the KKK's right to free speech. Let them publicly talk about how everybody else sucks and should die. Then when they influence an entire generation to be skinhead fucks that want to "Go hang some Coons" we can all look back on this thread.
