Hey I couldn't help but noticing that on most of the pics posted here, nobody gives mention to the artist who did the work. Usually, it's just a pic of themselves and 'here it is, this is me' You sat there and endured how many hours of pain to get that tat, but what about the person who made it happen? They're not worth a mention? They did the real work, you just sat there gritted your teeth and bled a lot. Give your tattoo artist some credit by mentioning their name, shop, and city! I'm not talking shameless plugging here, just credit where credit is due. They're artists, but almost never can sign their work. And hey, ya never know, if you send some customers their way, you might even earn some credits towards future creations.
do you thank cops for busting criminals, when ever they bust criminals? do you thank the people who stacked the shelfs at your supermarket? do you thank the garbage collectors? i don't...you know why? because it's there job...they get paid to do there job, i give them money they give me tattoos...simple as that. just expressing my opinion on what you posted
i think its a splendid idea for a thread impala i havent got work form this guy but bloody would if i could! Woody at Woodys Tattoo Studio in High Wycombe UK http://www.woodystattoostudio.com/
I take it you've never been an artist soaddodger And no, as a general rule I don't thank cops for giving me a ticket and or a hassle. Then again, they have some of the most generous compensation packages going. Ditto for a lot of 'sanitation engineers' -the poor grocery dude is getting fucked, on that you can be sure. Do you think tattoo artists get health insurance? or paid sick days and vacation time?? 401k, pension, profit sharing?? Most of the time they are splitting what they make with the shop owner, or they're paying rent on the space in the shop. Shit, they don't even get tips! 99% of 'em don't even have advertising, just word of mouth.
wow Samee, the stuff they do there is really bold. and I couldn't help but notice they do laser removal too -they gotcha coming and going Thank You
I never have here but I've also got no camera to take pics. I tell people about my guy when it comes up though.
actualy you don't know shit about me so you can't say wheteher or not i am an artist or not. like i said before, it was my opinion to your post, no argument, just some example to express my opinion on what you have typed....so you can take it or leave it...up to you.
well am not the one presuming that someone is not an artist just because they stated an opinion over the internet but what ever...
*yawns* whatevah is right I'm betting you're not an artist because of your infantile, self-centric 'fuck 'em they got paid attitude' and that you've most likely never created much other than the skidmarks in your diapers and cum in your palm. You and Your Pig are either trying to up your post count or have absolutely nothing better to do with your time. -do you have anything constructive to add to this discussion?
o.k i am confused here...did you just write a post and expect every who reads it to agree with your opinion...from what i've been told this forum is a free speech forum, and i took advantage of the fact it's a free speech forum. and did you have to insult me? you're typing that i have skid marks on my diaper and cum in my palm (which i assume you're calling me immature?) but am not the one who resorts to insults because someone is critiscing (how ever you spell it..) what i typed... but you know what? i expected a debate and i expected you to justify your opinion or at least tell me your side of it in a mature and polite manner...you're more than welcome to express your opinion in any form you like but personal attacks are just immature...esp when you haven't even SEEN the person you're insulting... but you're right...i am wasting my time in this thread, i will leave you to it and good luck with your future and good luck in this forum, i will say no more in this thread.
I've always given credit to my artists, even my piercers. I adore the whole shop. I've been worked on by everybody at Body Anthology in North Olmsted, OH. They're also the ones that did my suspension. Matty's done most of my right arm, Chico did my two hand tattoos, and Michelle did my two solid black pieces, on my collarbones and hip. www.bodyanthology.com
There is no need to cut each other down or show any disrespect. Agree to disagree. I personally think yeah, why not? Painters normally sign their initials on the bottoms of paintings, what's wrong with allowing an artists' name to get out and be appreciated? I'll be putting the artist's name and studio name in my posts for future tattoos
its persived that you are not an artist due to the negativity you have towards showing appreciation to somebody creating art on your body. anybody with a quarter of a half working braind would assume that much. anyway impalla, your in jersey, check out http://www.immortalink.com/ most of my work in the past few years comes from jamie at the flemington shop, she is awesome, but everybody in both locations is fucking tops. i'm pretty sure everybody in all their shops have a waiting list. I know its usually 2 month minimum to have jamie work on you unless you get to know them, i get calls when they are bored to see if i want ink, but i've spent thousands of dollars there so i guess its a perk. also, jamie has a etsy. i'm not a girl, so i dont really fit into her particular target audience, but her shit is epic, so check it out: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6107816
well me and the thread starter have settled our differences... i don't know if what i do would consider myself as an artist (when i get a camera i can maby post some of my 'work' in the art section so that you can judge whther am an artist or not..) but i am greatfull for tattoo artists to be around.. maby the way i typed out my opinion was not clear enough...and i apologise if i seemed like a dick. basicly what i was trying to say was i wont go the extra mile to promote a tattooist in my free-time...i have given them money so they can carry on doing what they do best*just as i would to any other 'company') and i think this is enough...this is what i ment...i don't think 'fuck em i payed' i think i have contributed to there busness with my money (how ever you spell it) and i think thats enough. after all, they do ask for money in order to give you what you want...
soad, just to be clear i wasnt bean e-mean to you, i was simply just sayin my take. what do you do (artisticly)? I love hearing what kind of artistic things people are into. i airbrush, make jewelry, i've been refinishing a guitar, i've done some mosaic stuff, and i've been tossing around ideas lately to possibly create artistic/hidden computer cases. a few other things, but those are my main likes as of late
cool, you're alwase entitled to to you opinion. well right now i am 'training' to perfect my tattooing..i don't do it as a profesion but more as a hobby and only on freind's or fruit lol. mainly i do paintings (literly just a canvas with a mixture of colors...no potrait or anything) but most of the time am to ocupied with my sketches lol
soaddodger and I have patched up our differences and have decided to move forward, no doubt we'll be announcing our engagement in the coming months :smilielol5::smilielol5: I think braindecay summed up my feelings towards the lack of recognition of tattoo artists, or any artists for that matter. And Immortal Ink is a legend around here braindecay, and not for nothing I used to work across the street from their shop a few years back. I've never heard of etsy or seen any of her stuff but I'll be sure to check it out first chance I get. And have any of you guys been catching that show "Marked" on the History Channel? great stuff! It covered so far the bikers, the Latino gang bangers, Russian 'mafia', and US military traditions of tattooing and other stuff, it's amazing how cross-cultural ink is, not to mention symbolic.
which store did you work by? clinton or flemington? its such a small world talking about a local shop on the internets. LOL anyway, etsy is like a database of indipendant artists so to speak. you can sign up for the etsy comunity and set up a place to sell your work. its just different artists selling their stuff. the link i put up in my first post is a site for one of the artists at immortal's etsy store. you can find some really awesome things there though if you dig around. i've seen "living rings" a ring with a stone with a patch of moss in it.... all kinds of interesting stuff very fun place to spend e-dollars
