So what are your takes on the whole Polanski thing

On one hand, shit got too real for the french today

So on one side you have Roman Polanski, film director extrodinaire. Had somewhat of a fucked up life, survived the holocaust though his father didn't, made really famous movies in the 60's and 70's, had his pregnant wife killed by the manson family.

On the other hand you have the 13 year old girl who he raped. Though on the other hand she was sexually active and never seemed to distressed about it

Now there's no doubt he raped a 13 year old girl, in fact he plead guilty to it, hence why he fled the country.

The main question is what the hell took so long to arrest him and why now when he's 76, he's not exactly a hard person to find.

Now ideally he should face justice for what he did, yet at the same time the girl who the victim has said repeatedly that this is stupid to keep going on and she's over and they should just let it go and his trial in the 70's was a bit of a circus

the roman polanski legal issues surfaced in the press recently to create a media distraction. what's the reall issue here? the U.N.

 

That he is, but they've had 30 years to arrest him. Not to mention his original trial was a circus of an asshole judge hell bent on sending him away for life, even the prosecution said the judge had not acted correctly.

And the girl did consent. So while it is "rape" it's not evil man with a gun type rape.

Roman Polanski was married to Sharon Tate. The Manson murders happened about 4 months before this (it was his child who was cut from her womb).

There was a plea deal reached-everything was about to be settled in the case and the judge changed his mind-that's when he left the country. Yes he could have been arrested many times-but most people saw what was really happening.

This whole case should be dropped. The girl consented, just because of that this whole case is a farce and to bring it up after all this time is going to do more damage than good

 

Well no at 13 you have no right to consent.

 

It said she was already sexually active, it was her choice to make. She said herself it was consentual. Its a personal matter between two people, no reason for it to be blown up like this

But we all break laws everyday so I guess that just shows how in touch with reality those laws really are.

Sure raping a chick is fucked up and wrong, but if she's underaged but she consents I don't see anything "technically" wrong with it (unless the older person is only taking advantage of the younger person).

 

And she had been drunk before, and taken the drug Polanski drugged her with before, and Polanski was taking photos of her for vogue magazine. But being 13 does make it pedophilia. Though it wasn't all out consent, according to the girl
