Hey everyone I'm new here to these forums. I've been researching stuff about dreads the past week and decided to go the neglect the way. The process of growing it and the way they get kinda crazy is fascinating to me. Anyway, I've decided to go baking soda and sometime dr.bronners so i can clean behind my ears and stuff. I was just curious if putting my hair up into a beanie will help expediate the process of the tangling. Also I saw some people on here talking about not combing for like a month and then speeding up the process by backcombing or twisting and rip. Is that worth it? Or should I just wait?
The first time i started dreads i went neglect and i wore a beanie to bed every night and i think it helped alot, so yeah i reckon it does help
It's a matter of personal preference mostly - read the sticky for more info http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=365451&f=209
My brother was going neglect, He started with his hair about 2 inches long, wore a beanie for about a month strait, only takeing it off when he went for a shower (once a week)... Considering he has very thin oily hair it knotted up fast. By the end of the first month he had all his hair in baby dreads about 2mm thick...then he had to wash them out when work complained. The point is that the beanie help, considerably in my opinion. eace: Oh, and it was a tight fitting beanie, not a tam.
