A few questions about dreads :)

Today i made a dread on one of my friends. She has hair a to upper back/under shoulders. It went great! Shes very happy with it, i told her it would be hard to get out, if possible at all. Isn't it hard to do twist and rip on shorter hair? 10-15cm? 4 - 6inch

 

Dreads are not something you should rush into, and you seem to be pretty undecided. Maybe you should think about it a little longer, let your hair grow out. You have your whole life to get dreads, and when you do decide to do it, they'll look great. School chums can make it hard to get dreads, peer pressure and all. Maybe wait til summer?

 

um, she can get theknots out very easily. i'd say it would be pretty easy to comb out young knots until they're about 3-4 mos old.

 

Okay. I wanted to dreads this summer.. but i think my hair is to short.. Maybe ill wait some months. :/

 

I used backcombing + crocheting, they're holding together great. It did hurt, and took 4 or 5 days (two weekends), but was worth it. I suggest you grow your hair and make dreads at the end of the summer or in the middle of summer.

 

Okay.. In the late summer my hair will be maybe 12 - 15 cm i think, is that long enough to the dreads to look good?

15 cm is about 6 inches, and I recommend waiting until you have at least twice that... Dreads shrink at first, and the short ones look like pooo... In my humble opinion...

Hehe okay, then i wait i guess.. :/ But couldn't imagine my hair 30cm long.. ! Hmm probably gonna take 6 months to get that length. hmmf,.. ill see how it turns out

1 inch= ~2.5cm.

 

My hair is around 8 cms now..

When i make twist n rip dreads they turn out pretty good i think.

Cos my hair is so thick maybe they won't shrink as much as normally?

The dreads also get a bit thick even on 1x1inch square, but thats nice i think

 

Dude...its alright i went to school with a bunch of dickheads and at first they made fun of me but in like 3 months those jokes and remarks started turning into compliments and people petting me (not that i like that)

i was 15 btw so im not lecturing you =P im 16 now

Last time i got a haircut, the hairdresser cutted it WAAAY to short.. so now, some months later its back on 10cm.. :'/

But ill see how my afro turn out, and maybe get dreads

 

Half the battle is breaking old habits like cutting, brushing, and "fixing" it before you go anywhere.

Its 12-14 cm long now, i think i'll wait maybe 3 more cms to get the dreads.
I washed with some shampoo with not much of the nutrients that stay in the hair, and small dreadlocks were actually forming, right after shower haha ;P
