    My name is Launi.
    Nice to meet you!
I am many things, but I am also not many things.

I love very freely, and easily feel compassion...
It is fault, I have found, but one I am willing to keep.

I am currently in the 'looking for a commune' phase of my life. I have a vision of my future; a commune where I can apprentice myself to experts in many disciplines, especially those involving reaping harvest from the earth in a manner that promotes true soil health through naturals means, not through fertilization. Unless, of course we are seeking to boost the flowering of the most useful of plants.

I am looking for a commune with Rainbow Family members; I've found several communes that are what I am looking for, but I figure there are of-grid sites that dont advertise on the internet- I would appreciate an email at smertfire@myspace.com.

I am hoping to be welcomed home.

I am saddened by the apparent small number of communes that have survived, in my heart I know they are there- off the grid somewhere.

I am not looking for an 'intentional community' which demands high rents and lacks the communal atmosphere I desire.

I hope you introduce yourself to me, because I want to meet you :)

    Peace.

The Rainbow forum might not be the best place to look for a commune, there is a HipForums forum that is dedicated to discussions about commune living here: http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/forumdisplay.php?f=57

Most communes that I know of are not Rainbow communes altho many have some Rainbows living on them.

BTW, there are a lot of the old communes/communities that are still in existance but many of them are not as open as they once were.

i have a friend who grew up on The Farm. she says while it still exists it's a whole lot smaller and closed than it was in it's peak years when she was a kid. she said that The Farm was taken down by a big influx of Drainbow type people. my two commune endeavors in the 70s were both destroyed by drunken Drainbows who showed up, ate up and used up resources while contributing nothing but strife, filth and empty beer cans. no consensus could ever be reached to oust them from the property because our Bliss Ninnies always sided with the Drainbows in some kind of strange adherence their concept of "rainbow tolerance". eventually all the folks who actually worked got tired of supporting and cleaning up after the Drainbows and one by one we left, then the Bliss Ninnies floated away and then only the Drainbows remained until the cops came to evict them on behalf of the new renters of the house/land. this happened to us twice, costing me and my mate quite a bit in money and frustration, so we sadly gave up on the whole rainbow commune idea.

good luck in your quest, launi. i sincerely hope you have better commune experiences than i and my mate did and that you find the home you're seeking.

you can get in on a ground floor opportunity of a now-developing 'farm' in st johns, az. the "shut up & eat it" kitchen crew is building something that could be very special and it only started up a few months ago. when i last visited a couple months ago there were a couple little kids and 6-8 adults and they were working on building a large, in-ground kiva. lots of work from good people is needed to get this place off the ground...i'm sure they can use donations of all sorts too (they haven't asked for any help...just my own personal observation)

there's also "wind spirit community" also here in az you might want to check out. it's an established farm/orchard in east-central az between globe and my home (winkleman/hayden, az). their link: http://www.windspiritcommunity.org/

and here's the link to a shitload of ic communities: http://www.ic.org/

if you need more info i can be reached at..............canmon at yahoo dot com

hope that helps...have a merry one!

well, here's the backstory from the only leads i had. they suck. now, here's what i'm looking for, and i think you are too...

somewhere to live and work that is not a part of this fucked system we're mired in. if you have a passport, i can put you in touch with someone in southern England, however...ain't nothing here...

anyone have a home for a compulsively hard worker? somewhere to put my tent, earn my keep, smoke a bit, and make some music? probably not, but let's all keep looking...

and it shouldn't be shwag, but, i'll go without for the rest, and i'm thinking she might too...

btw...i have work needing to be done here. 2-3 weeks worth mending my home here in AZ...nothing serious, just some painting and furniture moving and other stuff this old~n~broken body can't handle. $10/hr + room & board...

well, because i called them a her, based on whatever i was thinking at the time. mebbeh it was the perfect spelling.

where's home in AZ? i spent a while in Tucson, beautiful place, i owe them about 1,800 bucks in speeding tickets. needless to say, i haven't driven in a while.

after ocala, i might think about taking you up on what you're talking, light home repair isn't anything i'm unaccustomed to. i need to get back to AZ and pay everything off if i ever want to drive again, which i may not but would like as an option, y'know... how many hours would you be able to pay for, as in, how much work have you got? this could be a working vacation, allowing me to get my license straight. if you only have a limited amount it might still be advantageous to me. ideally, i'm looking for farmwork somewhere not AZ, because then i don't have to worry about those fines, but if you have several hundred hours of honest work (by math at least 180 over say 3-4 weeks), this might be just what i need. i can roof, fix adobe, landscape, lay pavers, do light (i mean light) electrical or plumbing, changing sinks, toilets, or garbage disposals, or fixing fans and electric fixtures, paint and refurbish, and light tile and wood floorwork.

otherwise, hopefully you find a great fit, good luck. i know i'll find something, because there's always something if you're always looking.

    peace, love

i don't have that much stuff to do here in hayden, az...about 90 miles up hwy 77 (oracle rd) from tucson, but at least it's out of pima county (gila). but i can say there's at least 600 bucks-worth of work here...paint the roof, repaper the carport roof where needed, some sink & vanity replacing in the bathroom, take out a plastic shower stall and build a walk-in style one, a little stucco work on exterior walls...stuff like that. maybe two weeks of full time work but i figured it would get stretched out to like a month or so with the good vittles and all that backyard gardening stuff that comes with it...i guess what i've got here is more for a working vacation kinda person. it's easy money and comes with a private bedroom with it's own entrance, good food and all the smokables one could handle...and I've already got the tools and supplies.
