Ive got to go with the Thirties, I think the lines where much sharper, and the overall theme wasn't completely based on special effects...but I might be a bit biased sense I like the tough guys...
There have been a lot of fantastic movies in the last decade. Never have I seen so many film attempts to provoke thought and social action. I just hope they're done playing with CGI and start using it responsibly.
The 70s-- but if I were pick 10 years, it would probably be 1967-1977. I'm not just saying that because this is a hippie site, either... most mainstream films of that time were challenging, socially conscious and purposeful. Almost every kind of film worth seeing nowadays was done first (not necessarily better, however) in the 70s-- the blockbuster, the war film, the art film, the crime film, etc. The 30s had some amazing classic films but it's obvious that there were limitations. There are a lot of good movies being made nowadays as well, but not so much in the way of real innovation. The 70s had it all.
i can't make up my mind.i liked the older movie theatre more than today's.i wish more of them were still around...if bi worked in show business i think i would have liked the silent era because it was all a new craft and more of an adventure.i really like the look and atmospher of the film noir era of the 40's and 50's.also i liked the look of many films of the 30's like the busby berkeley musicals...i like the epic look of the 50's and 60's...and the gritty realistic look to many of the 70's movies.so to sum it up.i don't know....the 80's and beyond.no not much entertainment i would say.
The 30's. The film industry hadn't yet congealed into the formulaic commercialized movie factory that it is now. Universal still had artistic vision, and they made Frankenstein. Enough said. The worst was the eighties. Too many shitty movies.
