Too freaking loud! What gives them the right to ride around disturbing everyone? There needs to be quieter standards for motorcycles! You don't need to sound like a bazooka to be noticed for safety either! Lastly, many motorcycle rider drive like crap! End of rant. Simple, to the point.
alot of car drivers drive like crap =p but you obviously havent ever riden a motorcycle. or are being sarcastic. and the loudness is also a safty percaution because people dont see bikers easily.
If you wan't to complain about overly imposing machines piloted by toolbags, I think you should be complaining about SUV's and pick-up. But, wait, I drive a P/U and mine is quiet and I'm courteous. I think this is a gross generalization based on your experience with a few bad riders.
PLEASE STOP REPEATING FALLICIES LIKE A MINDLESS PARROT! How loud do you need to be for safety? Some of those Harleys are so loud you can hear them 1/4 mile away it's ridiculous!
I hate loud motercycles, there is no reason for it.Its no safer than a quiet bike.Try driving a car thats that loud and see how far you get, total double standard.
What gives people the right to drive around in their Hondas blasting music so i can hear them a mile away? There are standards for motorcycles, but some people don't obey them...just like some car drivers. Also the worse drivers I have seen in my life are car drivers (and they usuly drive white cadillacs.) As for those that say that a loud bike don't help you to be noticed - BULLSHIT. I have been cut off on my bike a lot of time and almost killed a few. Hitting the horn has gotten the car drivers to notice so yes, additional noise does help. My bike is quiter then most cars. However will agree that there are some bikes that are louder then they need to be. then asain there are cars that way also.
When Im driving down the street with my windows up and the radio on I will not here someones obnoxisly loud bike no matter what they do to their pipes. If your that worried about your safety then get a car
would you rather be sitting next to a car that is bumping four sub-woofers with 4800 watts that can be heard for more than a mile? maybe you should move to a urban city, or go into the wild. a well good sounding bike is nice to hear.
given the choice I'd take the loud bike rather than be victimized by somebody's else's taste in 'music' But some bikers really are too loud, like when they set off car alarms just rolling along and not even cracking it open
Okay, being a motorcyclist myself, I can say what I am about to say with comfortable authority. Yes, most motorcycles are way too f*-ing loud. In fact, I'm saving up to buy myself an electric one, so I can ride in relative quiet. Anyone who says that the loudness of a bike is a safety feature is an idiot. Unless the pipes are pointed forward, which none of them are, all of the noise comes out the back, in which case you're already in front of whatever vehicle might have a chance of hitting you. I don't hear too many cases of motorcycles being rear-ended. And, unfortunately, it is also true that some motorcyclists don't really know how to ride. I took an actual motorcycle riding and safety course to get my authorization, but all it really takes is to pass the written test and perform some fairly simple riding exercises which anyone who learns how to physically operate a motorcycle and knows how to ride a bicycle can do. Under those circumstances, a person really does not have to learn how to actually ride a motorcycle. So, yeah, unfortunately some motorcyclists really do suck.
18 accidents involving motorcycles happened at the local motorcycle event this year 16 of them were ruled the motorcyclists fault. That's not bias, that's shit training, and weekend riders, noise doesn't help.
I think it's going to be really funny in a few years when Harley drivers start suing because their motorcycles made them stone-deaf. If you can hear a bike 1/4 mile away, and I know exactly what you're talking about, then how loud must it be for the schmuck sitting on the thing? VROOM VROOM!!1!one!1!
louder the better----get some ear plugs--and you leave the sound behind you while your rolling---only really loud to u while your stopped---shit the bikers i know do alot more than make noise---but whatever
I have a motorbike, but it's a sporty city model. It's not very loud at all. All generalisations are evil. =P
