hello! i'm a 23 yr old australian girl, and live in the perth hills (on the bottom southwest corner of the country). i spent a lot of my early education in an open learning school, so i guess over the years that has made me seek out a sort of 'hippy' perspective and lifestyle of sorts.

i graduated uni with a liberal arts degree a couple of years ago. it expanded my mind but not really my wallet. i'm a bit of a drifter and find it hard to focus on a longterm job anyway; can't imagine doing the same thing for more than 2 yrs at a time. right now i think i might want to be a part time artist/craftster, part time barista (pro coffee maker, not lawyer!).

i just quit my current job, which i've been wanting to do for about 2 yrs. i finish tomorrow. the place is run by a bunch of rich capitalist freaks; it's just not 'me'. i really feel like a 2 yr long haze is shifting from over me and i'm rediscovering myself. it's scary but exciting. i like the idea of creating a new self.

i really identify with the idea of simple living. in the way off future i'd love to build my own house from recycled materials. for now i really enjoy drifting and experiencing life in different parts of perth, usually in old well-worn houses with low rent! right now we live in a foresty area up on a hill, so we bushwalk and keep chooks.

i love music; mostly 60s and 70s, and a bit of jazz fusion when i'm relaxing. floyd, dylan, zeppelin, fleetwood mac and the band are favourites.

if we have anything in common i'd love you guys to comment, there aren't many hippies in my neck of the woods so it's refreshing to find a forum like this! i'm really inspired :)

Hi Heather! Thanks for replying :) Where abouts in Australia are you? Yes, it's a problem isn't it; the whole work thing. I did a few anthropology units at uni, and majored in history, so that hasn't helped because now I'm fully aware of how screwed up capitalism is, and that there are other ways to live. You only get one life (that we know of) and it seems like a huge waste to me to spend it working!

I do think of Bob Dylan's line 'you're gonna have to serve somebody', tho, and think of that when it comes to work. I'm not too picky about what I do, but I usually only work part time so I have enough space and time to just enjoy life. As long as it pays the bills and gives me freedom enough to do what I want to do, I'm happy.

Tell me more about you! :D

    Hi Again
Im in Victoria on the Murray. Its pretty rad here i guess. Again i do the same thing i work casually as a Cook so i start at 6 and finish at 10 then dont have to go back till liek 5 heaps of spare time. I shall tell you my plan, Im planning a trip around Aus by horse and wagon. Its going to be epic in the best possible way. I havent really done much for it yet just abit of the old networking and saving i have put both of my horses on the market in order to buy a heavy horse. Its taking me forever to sell them because i refuse to let the go anywhere unsuitable...stupid caring.

I decided not to go to uni not sure why though i think i just wanted time to mellow out and be me. And now everyone i know at uni hates so i feel i have made the right choice. I really dont know what to say about myself its hard to pick out the mildly interesting parts to share cause its all you and i dont know whats interesting or something. I find it hard to stay coherant and i get abit erratic when typing not sure why but its cool.

Yeah i like you. I feel we share ideals which is nice

    Peace
