I rarely view American media anymore because I'm not fond of propaganda, shit stirring and incompetence.--However I took a recent look at Fox(news LMAO!),and it seems they are running a 24 hour non-stop campaign 'against' the public option and single payer healthcare.--That in itself tells any doubter that the public option or single payer healthcare are the only way to go.--As far as I'm concerned if the US continues to let insurance companies, big pharma, special interest groups for the rich and other lowlifes run the show ,the US can no longer consider itself part of the civilized world.--And really it's about alot more than healthcare--it's about the freedoms a good socialized medicine system brings in many aspects.
Unfortunately the poor are the most obese, because all they can afford is junk food, but that's not what I was getting at, and it's not just obesity. It's cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, addiction, mental illness, the list goes on. The point is, we are collectively very unhealthy, considering we supposedly have the highest standard of living in the world. Maybe that's the problem, maybe we have so much that our laziness has lead to the decline in health of our average citizens, now that we electronic gadgets and machines to do everything for us. Granted there are unavoidable conditions that are contracted or hereditary, and we need reform to prevent bankruptcies when such conditions arise, but a lot of our health care costs are a result of poor habits. Our business culture of working our asses off with little time to exercise or vent stress doesn't help. If businesses gave paid time off for employees to work out at the gym for a few hours a week, I'll bet they'd actually see gains in productivity, lower health insurance claims, and fewer sick days, that would far outweigh the paid time off. I heard my congressman got many more calls from folks denouncing a public health care option than supporting it. Somehow they don't understand that most of them, like the rest of us, are just one serious illness away from bankruptcy. This corporate scam job, disguised as some kinda grass roots movement, seems to be working, so it's important to call your congressman if you support the public option. The health insurance industry is spending millions of our dollars to keep single payer off the table because they know their days are numbered if they don't.
Mellow Yellow got what he says right they did a study and the companies that participated in it noticed the exact things, productivity up, sick days fewer so fewer ins claims and morale was much higher. I just want the government to get the insurance co. to step up to the pump like help the docs and hospitals pay for the uninsured. Also would help if regular check ups were promoted. Plus I think hospitals and doctors have become greedy they are not there to help you get well or stay well they have become part of the corporate for profit only, and in my opinion I believe that goes against their oath. just my 2 cents plus $1.23 will get you a coke.
It is time for you so called "hippies" to come out from mom and Dads Basement and take this healthcare thing to the streets fuck the government, you are the government, tell these assholes what you want, what ever it takes to get your message across do it.If you can get as many people out w/ you good, this is 60's time kiddies do and have a ball on the way.
Most major health issues can be prevented with early diagnosis and treatment, but the capitalist health care system is driven by short term gains, which makes them more likely to deny or discourage it, so ailments get really expensive by the time they get treated. Capitalism and health care obviously don't work well together when it comes to privately run health insurance. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of good doctors getting paid more than shitty doctors, they need an incentive to be good, but leave the middlemen shit heads out of it. 'better watch out for that public option, next thing ya know they'll have death camps for the elderly, and compulsatory sex change operations. Fucking idiots.
http://www.************/group.php?gid=144158323692&ref=nf Come join the reminder march. We are trying to organize a protest FOR healthcare reform. We are in the planning stages right now, but we hope to have the protest sometime in early November. Come and join us, and plan out a protest by the people for the people. I already started a thread for this, just wanted to mention it here too.
The only way it really would work is if more people were in it for each and every community, really being involved. I know I can not be the only person with ideas of what this city, state, and country needs to be doing to fix health care, employment, and a whole list of other things, yet I only see old gray haired folks acting like they know what I want. It isn't right to fight something that is proven to work. If there was a public option we all know that rates would go down because the insurance companies would need to be decent and compete. BUT the option has to get passed by the state and before we get to that point there needs to be involvement by all the citizens so that they can have a hand it what they get to vote on. I worry that now is the time and not enough people know to move. I want so badly to help people so they can help themselves and I feel like a part of the massive failure that is this system because I am just now seeing what needs to be done. I want to uncover the shady behavior and selfish mentality of anybody who opposes a choice for the people of this country because it is totally unconstitutional to be that way and have power, act that way to your dog maybe, not to your brothers and sisters.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/07/health.care/index.html The House just passed healthcare reform, 220-215. Now onto the Senate!
YEA,I hope theres not alot more procrastination in the senate.Everyone contact your senators and tell them to vote yes on heathcare.Making our voices heard is our best tool for any reform,it makes a difference.:cheers2:
I don't want our congress to rush to pass just anything. I want to understand how exactly this is good for myself and my family.
Politics is such bullshit it drives me mad. It seems idiotic that republicans are so against this bill yet have no other ideas on reform, look at all the countries who actually help people who need care, I don't see them in trillions of dollars of debt. What do they think they are saving us from? This country is already bankrupt and as soon as Asia decides to collect the bill we will soon find out how fucked we have been this whole time. Then I will get to see the right winged maniacs flail their tales in wonder of when their next meal will be delivered.
