Okay, I'm posting this in here because I'm assuming most men that post here are heterosexuals.

Why do you think homosexuals are frowned upon, or sometimes even rejected, by most people in our society?

This is completely open to all opinons....but I would appreciate serious and thoughtful responses.

I am a heterosexual man, who has no problems with gay men. I am also secure in my own sexuality and I feel the two are related. It seems like the people who hate gays the most are often closet cases themselves. Sure lots of people are made uncomfortable by homosexuality, but I am talking about the small number who rabidly hate gays. It seems that they are overcompensating because secretly deep down inside they have homosexual feelings.

That's a common pop. psychology theory, but there's never been any connection shown. It makes people feel smart to say it though...

Well, first of all, there are a lot of Christians who believe the Bible.

Secondly, in America, we have a very prudish, uptight attitude toward sex in general. Many of us (not me) are uncomfortable about nudity, nipples, penises, you name it. We have rigid boundaries around what is OK and what isn't. For some men, but not most, I think, it has to do with hidden fears of their own desires. It shakes them to the core to think about gay male sex. Lesbians, they don't have a problem with :^)

Thirdly, I think it's fair to say that a high percentage of gay men do have kinda weird personalities, at least in my experience.

I think that the idea of a homosexual act is just so repulsive (NO offense meant to anyone) to most heteros that homosexuality is kind of a stumper for most heterosexuals.

I think that's their choice. As long as they aren't infringing on anyone that's their business lol.

I'm not answering this loaded question.

I do not agree that that's how most people feel.

    whoa...
Maybe you do, and maybe the majority of your generation does, but that kind of attitude is definitely well on it's way out the door.
I'm actually surprised you even said that, considering all the hype about how over-sexed the vast majority of our media is.

Oh, this is NOT what I think. But I do think that in America, most men are still uptight about sex. You might think otherwise from the media, but think about it. The E! network can't even show images of Mardi Gras without blurring out the nipples! Ridiculous! The media can now be pretty free about verbal references to sexual matters, but they certainly can't show a flaccid penis on network TV. Even on the pay networks, it's very rare.

Also, you might think these attitudes are on the way out, but then explain to me why high school boys rarely shower after gym class anymore.

Yes, I stand by what I said. Have you ever seen one that showed a nipple or a flaccid penis? America is extremely prudish.

I agree. Except that sex sells. Or should I say, images of sublimated sexuality in the media. Sex itself doesn't sell because North America is too prudish to legalize prostitution like the most advanced cuntries.

Well, I would like to see less censorship in America. The people who maintain that children are harmed by viewing a breast or a flaccid penis are mentally ill, IMHO.

No, they can't, but pretty much everyone wants them to.

Not trying to be difficult, but probably because they are high school boys.

    :cheers2: Totally!

Amusing, but how come not long ago, all high school boys got naked in front of each other in the communal showers?

It just seems like the way things are "supposed to work" is with a man and a woman. It just doesn't add up for heteros when they see any other way. Sex is weird and i think its overratted anyways.

I really don't know, this kind of question is just so open-ended.
Is there really a sizable disparity between the amount of boys showering after gym class today compared to the number in the past?
Are the generation of boys today simply not as cleanly as those of the past, so that they don't feel the need to shower?
Are gym classes not as strenuous these days, so there is no real need to shower?
Were gym coaches more strict about enforcing showers in the past?

There's really just a lot to consider before assuming that it has something to do with sexuality.

Well, I wonder, because I've seen a number of posts here from boys who express how uncomfortable they are in men's locker rooms. They seem to think there's something wrong with men walking around naked.

ok, we get the point, you want to see more young boys naked together in showers washing each others dicks, that's your prerogative not mine

thinking that there's even such a thing as "society" is pretty fuckin stupid, what we have today (at least in western countries) is a system of individuals where majority rules, if you get enough people thinking like you and manage to organize them in some way you can do/change whatever you want

the media is not this system, the media is a business, and the media WANTS people to be prudish and uptight about sex because sex becomes more "naughty" and the media can sell whatever they want. it's because of this that sex sells.
