I've been an addict for 3yrs now and have never gone more than 5 days b4 getting a fix. I've been on sub. for about 8mo. but insurance coverage probs make it to where I can no longer afford to take them, so I tapered myself down from 3 a day to 1 a day until I ran out 8-9 days ago. What I want to know is how long does physical and mental withdraw last. I always thought physical was over in 3-5 days?

OH man, thats no fun. How are you feeling right now?

It took me about a week and a half for the physical withdraws to start to go away, large amounts of anxiety months after though, similar to benzo withdraws. The mental withdraws will last over a month. I would say if you are already at 9 days, then you are almost out of the worst parts. It takes about 3 days for the withdraws so start fully, takes about that long for all of the sub to get out of your system. Id give it another week and you should be pretty good, physical wise.

Well I'll admit I've been sicker than this b4 so sick couldn't take it and had to get more, but I have all the flu sympton still, runny nose chills and sneezing constantly oh and the worst part a runny stool....I'm just like sheeez its been 9 days already plus I've been on light doses on subs not taking a daily 80, didn't realize u withdraw from subs, the doc says u don't but I AM.

The anxiety is bad (really needs x's) but I've been using weed to help with that part of it and it seems to be doing good.

Yeah, the flu symptoms will go away fairly soon, will slowly get better. And yeah, it will take a couple more weeks till your stool starts to get more solid, that is what takes the longest since your intestines got so used to them moving so god damn slow.

And xanax helps alot, along with bud. You say that you have been taking light doses of sub, how much is light doses?

I was on a dose of subs but ran out 9 days ago, I knew I wasn't going to be able to get anymore so instead of taking 3 a day I cut back to 1 and was fine for about a day after I ran out, but been crappy since, I think its starting to get better. Yea need some xan's the only prob. is I'm afraid I'll relapse w/o subs cuz the other stuff would be in my face again.

also taking 1 8mg sub a day is not a light dose. i taper down to less than a 1/4 of one a day and there are still withdrawals

Yeah, I tapered down to less than a fucking 8th, and even smaller, was just taking shavings towards the end, and still had some hardcore withdraws, nothing compared to others, but still pretty bad.

^^ yeah i've done that in the past too. i feel like if youre doing just shavings its really not that bad. esp if you start spreading them out like going from 1 every 24 hours to 1 every 36 and so forth...i've done that and the withdrawals seemed fine... but a few days later i relapsed so i cant say for sure

I'm no opiate expert, but possibly the longer half-life of the sub prolonged you're withdrawals though making them lighter. I assume the worst of your physical problems should be over soon. Good luck with the mental aspect! Positive vibes heading your way. I've read mixed results but many positive reports from using Loperamide to mitigate withdrawal symptoms. Here's an example of a thread on the topic.

the bad physical parts have eased like restless legs cold sweats and diarhea (thank god) but I'm still sneezing constantly runny nose stopped and I get cold chills from time to time but yes the worst part is over. Should be more topics like this to make sure everyone is aware of the danger b/c I wasn't and enjoyed the high just like ever1 else but if your not careful you will go from enjoying it to "needing" it which sucks.

Hang in there man. I had to go through that about a year ago, and have been clean since (mainly since the withdrawals are a painful reminder :p) So, think about how god awful you feel the entire time, and try to remember the agony, to store for later. Good luck!

tks man, I've isolated myself from all my friends b/c of fear of relapsing, when on subs could hang and watch em do it no problem. My only worry is ppl say the mental state could last forever which is why a high percentage of ppl relapse after they are taken off substitutes like subs. I don't wanna be another statistic, tks for the support ever1 glad to see other ppl have went through and overcome this :cheers2:

I was on subutex tablets, but got right into injecting them for a while, anyway went to rehab years ago to get off them, it was 6 weeks before i felt full circle again ..

Certainly not saying it will be that long for you, especially if you've not abused them ?

Stil didnt teach me, as im 12 days into a methadone detox right now .. but been clean from H for over a year.

Stick with it man, soon ride it out before you know it ..

Wow man methadone, I've heard that shit is rough coming off of, never had to taken plenty of methadones but done other opi's or subs right after so didn't notice any affects. I think I've read somewhere they are so bad alot of ppl never get off methadone. And to answer your question I abused opiates intravenously never tried suboxone always heard from ppl that if I did I would suffer immediate withdrawl and they wouldn't work so I was afraid to lol

I made the same mistake thinking that Suboxone doesn't cause withdrawal symptoms - they are worse and longer than OC, it SUCKS.

Just like everyone else has said, at least two weeks for the physical, about a month for the depression/anxiety to go away. It depends on the person but it could take even longer than that.

tks for the info, and that fuckin sucks I wanna call my dr and call him on his bs they do cause withdraw.

Updates, well still sneezing not as much diarhea went away for a day after taking pepto for a day and it's back today so back to the pink shit, month for mental I actually expect that to be longer b/c I already suffer from bad anxiety so this is has made it worse. I'm gonna have to get some benzo's or somethin.

^^ this. I always hated the restless leg most of all. It kept me from sleeping for countless nights. I always found alcohol, weed, and diazepam to help with that but i swear the restless leg and anxiety, to me are the worst of the symptoms.

Agreed, hate riding a bike laid in bed .. pure restlessnes.

Ive been amazingly fine since starting my methadone detox, first few days were shit due to sleep depravation, but after a week in i got like a new perspective, and now 13 days in i feel confidant, no anxiety at all, and i bounce out of bed in the morning and feel good about the coming day even if ive got usually undesireable appointments to do etc .

And suddenly theres colors and flavours again .. give it a while you will see what i mean ......

about two weeks, but it probably depends on the person and their use.
