To me the purpose of life is to be about life. Constantly trying to achieve happiness, doing whatever it takes. Coping with frustration knowing that one day you will achieve it all, or at least do everything in your power to achieve it all. The purpose of life is to master yourself and your existence as a human being. Thinking of all possible outcomes and how to make the best of everything before it even happens. No matter where you are at in life, you can change anyway you want. You can do whatever, whenever, and things that you think may be Impossible to achieve, CAN be done, and CAN be achieved, if you wanted it enough. There's so much out there for everyone, and I think people let life pass them by often. People need to wake up and get on track, get focused and stop sitting at home and slacking. Short term happiness may not be the case for a long term happiness seeking person. I myself experimented with psychedelic drugs, I smoked lots of marijuana and still do sometimes. I support abstract thinking, and discovering your nature of being. But, I think that a lot of drug abusers, depressed individuals, materialistic people and others are a lot of the people that may be missing out, and life may be passing them by. Enjoying yourself, casually having a few drinks/ casually smoking weed can be done! and can be great. On the other hand I believe that human beings owe more to the earth, as well as to themselves. There's a lot more out there then you think. The purpose of life MAY be helping people relies that they have the power to change, they have the ability to influence people, enlighten people, set an example for others. Word of mouth travels FAST, what you said to your freind today may have gotten to 20-30 people through word of mouth in a day or two, and that continues to grow as time goes by. That applies to everything you do in your everyday life. Do you REALLY want to be an average JOE? What is your guys idea of the purpose of life? Thanks, Matt H.:hat:
Differs per person in my opinion. If someone wants to be a grumpy bastard that's perfectly fine. You have to find your own purpose, and my experience with people who are not consciously looking for a purpose is that they have found it already anyway (subconsciously). Don't nag on the average joe please. They're not all unhappy or something.
I may have been misunderstood, I was not trying to nag. I was just saying the average Joe people may be able to change for the better. There is no wrong answer, if someone is happy than they are happy and thats good. However, it is possible to live life more fully and more happily then any condition happy condition you may be in. There is always room to improve for the better and to take a step in making yourself and others more happy/ positive. A lot of people dont realize and I think its important to not settle for the minimum. People may have been living in non satisfying conditions for a long time to a point were being happy even a little bit is more than enough for them, and thats GREAT. But there is no limit to how happy and how positive you can get and how much you can influence others.
Ok, I mean about the average joe that I see a lot of them here that do not want more purpose in life than living their average joe life. If you see purpose and positivity/happiness as the same thing then I could agree that there's no limitation needed indeed.
I think purpose plays a major roll when it comes to happiness. That pure happiness that I can't really explain but everyone probably knows what I am talking about. When someone is doing good, meaning all around is feeling good and is truly happy day after day, even unconciously. Them being TRULY happy is a result of the good/ positive things they may have done and how they filled in their piece of the puzzle for their everyday life. Our purpose on earth may very well be to make the best out of situations we get in, influence people we interact with to the better, and enjoy life for what it is and not what you want it to be. Being happy, influential and positive throughout life, rather than passive and non-influential may help. What I am trying to say is if the world and Life was a big recipe and we have the power and responsibility to supply an ingredient. Then each individual should make his/her best effort to bring that ingredient to the table, and do it using the best way possible. bringing a wrong ingredient, or low quality ingredient may not be in the best interest of the outcome of the recipe. On the other hand we have the power to play our roll to perfection! and each and every one of us IS going to influence hudreds and thousands of people in our lifetime weather you like it or not, so I think doing the best you can to influence for the better is important. If life was a jeweler making a chain and you are one of the links, you want to make sure you will hold the rest of the links together to complete the masterpiece.
I think life is its own purpose, in some sense, and can't ultimately choose what comes of its existence. Like, what's the purpose of a flower? To smell good and look pretty? It just happened to be that way. Or when people breed plants, they just happened to enjoy such scents and images. I suppose acting naturally could be with or without contemplation as to how this is done. Whether or not your life is ultimately meaningful isn't something that's going to be changed no matter what you think. So I just trust that everything I am a consequence of got it right the first time around. There's just as much cause to trust implicitly as to doubt.
the purpose of life is to entertain god. and so he [it] can flatter itself and say "i did that" to all his god friends.
To copy itself. In other words, to rearrange physical matter from disorder into order. This is a balance against entropy which seems to break physical matter from order into disorder. I think that's basically what all life is doing, from the microscopic level all the way up to larger organisms including humans. If I believed in god(s) I'd really enjoy this one. Well, no that's silly.. I still enjoy this one regardless :cheers2:

On a personal level the purpose of life is to get to the grave without being screwed over too many time. The purpose of life on a higher level: We are the vehicle though which the universe is able to know itself. <(^o^)>
we, meaning all living things on this planet are a part of a massive cosmic lab experiment and our purpose is to survive as best we know how until the creator is done with this experiment and destroys what remains and starts another one using the knowledge and experience that has been gathered here. We are only a pit stop in the continuing movement in the universe, and our time here is limited as was the dinasaurs etc. This is our time and when it,s up all the technology in our world will be meaningless.
I'm unsure of the purpose of life, there really is only three choices. 1-win no matter the cost 2-die no matter the cost 3-who cares, because we will all die in the end With that being said, I will pick 3 everytime and let any survivors pick whatever they want. This does not mean that I support or condone the instututions that are here in my time, only that I know if it isn't #1 or #2, it must be #3. The best way to this end is always to pick #4 (which doesn't really exist in our world).
As one philosopher said, I don't remember who, that it's pointless to be born in order to die anyway. As for me, don't look for the purpose of life, just live it!
None - simply to reach an unattainable state and we are burdened with this knowledge. Human nature is impractical.
