The question is a simple one: Do you think Obama deserves his Nobel Prize? The answer is equally simple: NO! But it does not matter since the prize is meaningless. The Nobel committee lost all creditability when they give the peace prize to Yasser Arafat.
No he won it because he wasn't George W. Bush, and he didn't retain Cheney. Maybe that's enough? Afterall they gave Gore one for something no one even mentions anymore: Global Warming.
I guess it didn't matter that Rabin also received it jointly for the same work towards peace in the middle east? Maybe it didn't for some. Afterall it was a Jew that assassinated Rabin. Or do you object simply because Arafat was an arab and that's why you didn't bother to mention Rabin?
Yasser Arafat was only an example. There is a very long list of people that received the prize that did nothing for peace. Both Arafat and Rabin were terrorist not peace makers. BTW I have nothing against Arabs or Jews. I have no respect for the Nobel committee. A bunch of political hacks.
I think Obama *will* deserve it if he ever gets anything done. As of now though? No he does not deserve the prize.
The bestowing of the Nobel on Obama has nothing to do with what he has done on behalf of peace or any commitment to global cooperation and diplomacy he claims to hold or even any goal he may hold of the reduction of nuclear weapon proliferation . . . It is a preemptive move; it is a set of handcuffs placed on him to bind any action he might consider against Iran or North Korea or any other rouge state. Obama will now be squeezing any military move though the WWNPPWD (What Would a Nobel Peace Prize Winner Do) filter. . . and this will certainly include any worthwhile escalation of hostilities in Afghanistan. See, the world left's backlash toward a "Nobel Peace Prize Winner" who acts in a warlike fashion is not something Obama is likely to inflict upon himself no matter how just and honorable the endeavor might be. Being the egomaniac and short-sighted noob that he is of course he accepted the "award" when for the good of the nation and US security he should have declined it . . .
I had never considered that until this morning. If true. It's brilliant. Thank you Nobel Prize committee. Although I am not sure what you mean by "worthwhile escalation of hostilites in Afghanistan".
I know the Nobel peace prize has lost alot(most) of its meaning in recent years, but I would not even award Obama a Barbie doll.He has proven himself very weak in many areas.A person of little character. All slick talk, little action. What has his administration done for US citizens so far?--An FDR,Eisenhower or Truman he is NOT,not even close.--
Well, by "worthwhile escalation of hostilities in Afghanistan" I mean altering engagement policy into "blow the shit out of the Taliban fucktards" and putting enough troops there to do it. As to the brilliance of the Nobel award committee they did not award Obama the prize for economics so perhaps there is some intelligence there. Then again, I did just hear that Obama has won the Heisman Trophy after watching a College football game.
