Should my hair be wet, damp, or dry?

I was thinking about trying it tonight... should I get my dreads and scalp wet first?
and should I heat up the water and dissolve the salt in it so that it goes on my scalp hot?

I do it as part of my wash routine. Mix with warm water so it will dissolve, spray, let sit maybe 30 minutes or so, rinse well.

I put sea salt and water in a spray bottle. I spray it on after I shower and wash my hair, then I just let it dry in. Sometimes it can make my head a bit dry, though.

I used to do it when I was getting out of the shower- I think it's good anytime though.

Yeh I think the main thing to note is that if you do decide to apply it post-shower and leave it on, you should try not to get it on your scalp, as it can lead to mild irritation. Re your main question...I don't think it matters a great deal if the hair is damp or dry to start with...since applying the solution will wet your hair anyway...just find something that works for you.

It never seemed worth it to me to do a salt spray. I used it a few times and dried my hair out pretty bad when I left it in. And putting in only to wash it doesn't make sense, unless people say it actually does something... I don't know though. I think doing some physically active and sweating would be more or as productive. I always notice a difference after I sweat a lot.

You've received good feedback here. I'll add that when I used salt spray, I left it in my hair. The spray that got on my scalp burned and I didn't like that. The spray did help my hair to dread, but it's VERY drying. I used it twice & that was enough.

Tastes delish too! I recently threw away an unused pot of it. I'd have mailed it to ya... Was a shame it went to waste.

salt fucks my hair bad.. fuck it, huge chunks of dandruff like snowflake-big.. haha.. and the itch is killing.. damn my hair, it still looks, feels and behaves smooth and silky even though im re-doing it for 3months now(combed my hair once in 2 years, so that would be, hhhmm...i combed it on my 1 year and 9th month..) and im not shampooing, just plain ol' baking soda... what could be wrong?

I've just been pouring apple cider vingar on my hair in the shower, then rising it out. Helps keep the dandruff down.
