Oh boy where do I start.....

Hi I am new to the forums here so dont get mad at me if a question similar to this has been answered. Anyway, I am becoming curious about religion/philosophy. I just want to do some research and see what sounds interesting to me and go from there. The only problem is that there are soo many religions and philosophies in the world I dont know how to begin searching, some of which I'd never even guess existed.
Can you guys help me in gettin a start on researching. I am interested in religions or philosophies whith these characteristics:

Any religions or philosophies where one undrgoes self deprivation of some sort.

Intense meditation

A naturalistic life style ( I dont lead one now, but maybe some day)

Producing all of ones own needs like food, clothing

Im open to pretty much anything. As you all probably know its a big world out there when youre talking about religion.
