What could nudist clubs be doing in order to get younger people interested?

I pritty young (Teens) and the thing stopping me socializing at club or whatever is that your parrents have to be involvedI mean today nobody goes to the movies with their mates and their parrents or to the city or mall or whatever with their mates and parrents. It's simple find away to be able to get teens to be able to go without their parrents without having to get consent or whatever.Sounds pritty farfetched to parrents letting their kids get naked infront of others without them their well what is nudism about ..... freedom?

Hmm yeah, ignore my last post, I went on a conspiracy theory/rant, whereas Alexandra and the guy above me^^ have posted far more pragmatic contributions.

Roffa and Alexandra speak a lot of sense. Why should anyone need to belong to a club just to sunbathe or have a swim?

The problem of young people not joining naturist clubs reflects a greater problem today : clubs are not recruiting at all. The same problem exists in all sporting and cultural clubs in NZ : a declining older membership made up of retired men and women. Sporting clubs find it near impossible to get anyone to take responsibility for tasks as simple as administration. Asking someone to stand for elected office will generally elicit the responce of no. We seem to be in an era where many people are very self-centered and where the concept of service to others has gone out the window. However there is another side to this question. Nudity seems to have gone out of fashion amongst young people so the large music festivals typicial of the 1980s no longer have any nudity. There does, on the other hand seem to be a memory of that era amongst some in particular amongst university students. The kind of activities being mentioned here are more in the line of stunts such as the National Penis Day in 2004, where 50 or so young students were naked in the centre of Christchurch in a radio station promotion, naked drinking at the Auckland University drinking club, the various activities organised at Otago University including the "annual" nude rugby match and the nude week. It would be correct to say there is still some acceptance of nakedness amongst younger people. In Wellington it is common for students in the first term to be found at the City's nude beach. Incidentally the activities of Oago students normally gain a huge amount of publicity. The nude rugby match especially. The first time this was held was in 2005 and on the main city beach in Dunedin. It was a media spectacle. There was some opposition to the press images published, not on the grounds they showed nudity, but on the grounds dicks could be seen. It should be noted that the "sun clubs" declining membership is not black and white. Members do have families and teenagers. Whilst male teenagers would not be seen dead at the Club they have been involved in activities such as a swim night organised by the club and open to anyone at a suburban pool with their mates interested. It does assume a very laid back supervision by males a litle bit older with parents, if they are there right in the background. Gerald.

Same with a lot of sporting and cultural clubs here in the UK, often because a lot of the sense of community around a large employer or industry has gone. Location doesn't help either in some cases.

Here we are on an internet forum discussing why people don't participate in social organisations anymore. The irony of it ...

Letting the under 18's in alone to nudist clubs/resorts would be a good start.

The thing is when all us teens hear the word "Nudist" we imagen a bunch of naked 60 yr olds. If you want to apeeal to us show that there are kids our age who are Nudists.

    Yeah I guess your right...
Its just not fair why cant we have our own resorts for the ones who are able to go? Then again like my mom would say about now
"Life's not fair, deal with it".

One thing about nudist resorts is that most of the people there will only talk to their established friends. They don't reach out to the new "over 45 year olds," let alone younger people. The friendliness hype you get from nudist resort ads is just that -- hype. I have been to a nudist resort many times, and find this to be the case, over and over. Just a lot of tight cliques that couldn't care less about adults or teens or younger. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. The manager of that place is a perfect example of cliquishness. He won't talk to you if he doesn't think your important to him. He does, though pal around with the women there. Nudist resorts have a long way to go with the "lesser people" who pay to go to these resorts. If you're single, try a nude beach, and bring a friend along.

I've been going to nudist resorts & beaches for several years, and it often seems like I'm one of only a handful of women there. At some beaches, I'll get approached by what seem like hordes of naked guys. I can't get any of my girlfriends to go with me, so usually I go by myself or with one of several platonic male friends. So I'm wondering what can be done to get more women to go?

Cliques are definitely a problem at nudist resorts and even some beaches. Where it is a club or indoor venue such as a sauna, then the manager and staff can go a long way to breaking down these barriers.

I agree heartily with you, nldn! You would thing nudists, few that there are, would be more convivial instead of stuck up. When I have been to much smaller nudist resort, the people do seem to be more friendly and warm-hearted. It's just easier to be a known quantity at a smaller place.

I have to agree with you about smaller venues. Happens to be my experience not just with nudist resorts or saunas, in life in general- think smaller pubs, smaller towns (mainly).

It's nice to see that this thread is still going strong after I originally posted it. I am not saying that nudism ought to be limited to people 18 and over. In fact, I think that once a person hits their teens they need to be allowed to experience every facet of life that is out there, including nudism.

This is one of the reasons why our younger generations are so self-centred and selfish, their parents have been over protective of them - never allowing them to get their hands dirty or do things for themselves out of the house instead of being glued to their video games.

When I was a teen back in the 1980's, it was a mortal sin to be caught indoors outside of school. My parents did all they could to make sure I lived a fulfilling and active social life with the family and relatives and friends.

Looking back now I wish that they had introduced me to nudism as a teen as I wouldn't have had half the bodily hangups I had back then.

We need to be teaching our kids to be independent and open minded instead of letting them buy all the mainstream bullshit that goes with social nudity.

Not to offshoot the topic, but a similar argument is raging right now on the Barefoot part of "Bare It". I mentioned the fact that instead of younger modern-day hippies discussing the trials and tribulations of going around barefoot, it's all a bunch of over-age guys who are obsessed with their feet and who have photo albums of them. All of the younger people take one look at the forum and are scared away or creeped out. I am a young college hippie who just wants to talk with people from my peer group and possibly make new friendships.

I am a 16 year old in Colorado. I try and get naked when my parents are home, and it is quite freeing, but that is about it. There are about 4 obscure locations spread throughout our square state where clothing is optional.

The biggest turnoff of these 1 hour drives is seeing a bunch of 70 year olds and no teens. If there where other teens there where I could hang out and stuff, that would be great. I dont, however, want to hangout with a bunch of old nudists.

(Dont get me wrong, I appreciate all Nudists, but I wouldnt really have anything to do with them besides have an awkward conversation.)

I can wait until Im 18, but I want to be active in the nudist community with other teens alike, because who knows where I am going for college.

I completely agree with this my kids often comment on the fact there is never enough for the younger ones to do they enjoy swimming ,pooltables darts etc things to keep them occupied how about a couple of WII COMPS so they can play each other and wireless internet as our young generations are into their laptops etc
