Men?, Women?, We all idiots at the end of the day who care complety about looks rather than personalty.
I love being a dude, my favorite thing is how i don't give a fuck about anything, and everything is either fun/funny or boring. I love how i can't get caught in any drama, and i find it especially funny when girls talk about things that "matter" and think that i'm a dick for not giving a shit. If only they knew what its like to control your emotions and be positive lol.
I think there is something that is being overlooked when discussing whether or not something is insulting to men for portaying them as only thinking about sex and possibly vice versa. At some time or another, men (and women) will be thinking about "sex". Some will (a lot) more than others. I believe that is what the emagazine aims for: those who think about it a lot or who happen to be thinking about it at the time. The article about the top ten hottest women in history does not "say" that the only way that men will look at history is to put pretty girls in pictures but it is rather "saying" that there is so much sexualization in the public arena (I.e. the internet) for consumption that people will try different approaches tothe presentation to spice it up. Using the internet you can find porn after porn after porn without end. Sometimes a different approach is a little more interesting than just more of the same. Sometimes something not so in your face is more enjoyable. I think that is the case here. This particular e-zine caters to "men" and catering to the traditional stereotype of "men" means that a lot of things will be sexualized. But, rather than thinking it is insulting for portraying men as only thinking about sex I believe the mag should be thought of as a option on the internet for the times when men are thinking about sex. Given that the internet reaches the whole world that can bring the number of men to which it might apply at any one time into the tens of millions or hundreds of millions. So, I don't think it is making an insulting statement about men. But, maybe I am wrong. I just don't spend much time worrying about it or even looking at it outside these threads.
I totally agree. The site is only representitive of the guys who look at it, not all guys. It´s more comical than anything. As I said before, we should be focusing on things that really are damaging, rather than harmless fun. Just as long as young, impressionable boys don´t look at the site and get the wrong idea
I agree that it is annoying that women always have to be defined by whether they are hot or not, regardless of anything else. But I find "men's" magazines and sites as well as "women's" magazines and sites to be very boring.
I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but saying men are the sole offenders in this respect is unfair; it seems we do it to our own kind: http://beauty.ivillage.com/slideshow/beauty-style/style-in-flight-amelia-earhartinspired-fashion/bomber_jackets.html?nlcid=bs|10-28-2009| Never mind her accomplishments in aviation back when it was a totally male-dominated field, look how fierce her shoes are! XD They banned you for that?? Wow, that's kind of creepy that they worship her so much... It's just a joke...
Overall a good site but they do tend to be a bit yuppish. They've had articles knocking dreads, ganja smoking,Bob Marley tapestries and Birkenstocks. CAUSE GANJA HAS ESTROGENIC PROPERTIES IT WILL MAKE YOU LESS MANLY hahahah
Seriously? What is the problem with this? Every woman on that list was powerful, rebellious, strong, charitable and very intelligent. I don't understand what about this is offensive. Men are visual and that will never change, but they didn't go back and pick the sluttiest nastiest ho's from history, they chose intelligent women and described all their "attractive" characteristics, almost all of which happen to be personality-oriented.
