when i first heard grateful dead it was really hard me for to get into them and i wasn't really diggin' the albums my dad had me listen to but later on i heard some some of their other tunes and now i love the grateful dead, haha even the albums my dad has.
everyone is in a different groove and the grateful dead can't satisfy every groove when i first listened to them i liked it but it wasn't something i was digging deep into one day it must've just clicked and i found more and more of their music that i just fell in love with it's more than just liking the music, i feel the music
Its the same with me. Im constantly trying to get my friends to enjoy better music and feel the music but they don't.
Fuck yeah, they just have a sound too amazing to reject. You couldn't ask me to pick out a favorite song; its impossible.
first grateful song i ever heard was - eggshell. a song ive never ever heard since then. ive never gotten to hear that dead song, but its beautiful simple and unique. when people tell me they dont like the grateful dead, or they tell me the grateful dead suck, i smile. and i shake their hand. and i thank them, i thank them for not likeing what i like, i thank them for being different, for giving this earth verity, because if everybody liked the grateful dead then how fun would that be? I smiled, and i shook his hand, and he smiled. And i told him he has just as much to not like them as i do to like them, and since then, even though he dislikes my favorite band, hes still a good guy. I like people who dont like things i like

there was one person on here that never listened to them until we shared some jams, at first she didn't like them either! but she grew into them
im guessing you might be thinking about the song "eggshell" by these guys: http://www.myspace.com/plasticbynaturemusic for some bizarre & unknown reason the mp3s of this song have circulated attributed to the GD
see man i've always been able to like feel their music man. like i guess i just got the right albums at first man it was like a good starting point for me and yea. oh yea first album was American Beauty. i really couldnt pick out a favorite album or song man all their work was like unique and amazing.
