This is NOT What Democracy Looks Like! by New Jersey Indymedia
11 Nov 2004 Tanks on the streets of LA
LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2004 - At 7:50 PM two armored tanks showed up at an anti-war protest in front of the federal building in Westwood. [IMG]
The tanks circled the block twice, the second time parking themselves in the street and directly in front of the area where most of the protesters were gathered. Enraged, some of the people attempted to block the tanks, but police quickly cleared the street. The people then began to protest the presence of the tanks, but after about ten minutes the tanks drove off. It is unclear as to why the tanks were deployed to this location, but if it's setting a precedent for things to come, we'll all soon have reason to fear our Federal government if we openly disagree with *any* of their policies.

With Emperor Bush in command for another 4 years, one should shiver when considering the systematic, overt, yet non-verbal deconstruction of the U.S. Constitution, namely the 1st and 4th Amendments, via the Orwellian named "Patriot Act". The next 4 years will be something to look on with a healthy dose of dread and vigilance.

That just killed the credibility of this entire news piece... Maybe the tanks were there for an unrelated reason? Maybe not? Who knows? New Jersey Indymedia certainly doesn't seem to.

It sounds interesting but it's possibly another paranoia campaign like the pesticides one. I will reserve opinions for now. Yoo-hoo Matthew, where are you???

Looks like democracy to me, the opposition says one thing and the government says no!
