According to this book, http://www.amazon.com/Tao-Health-Sex-Longevity-Practical/dp/067164811X, men shouldn't masturbate that much as they get older because each time they lose "essence". That's why men get tired after ejaculation. Women, on the other hand, can masturbate to their hearts content. What do you think?
I think that if that's true lots of guys will no longer say their happy to be a guy rather then a woman (to not have to give birth, periods, etc) hahaha. but anyway, lucky women!
Not going to lie... I think that is a bunch of crap. I'm not old, but I'm pretty damn sure that guys are just fine to masturbate until their heart can't handle it.
it is a bunch of crap, i just saw a documentary the other day on prostate cancer and the old adage rings true, if you dont use it you'll lose it.....masturbation is encouraged for healthy reproductive organs.
i remember being sleepy after bangin chicks when i was much much younger...in grade 9 health class they taught us about chemical release to the brain that makes dudes sleepy after ejaculating... The English word "essence" comes from the Latin essentia, which was coined (from the Latin esse, "to be") by ancient Roman scholars in order to translate the Ancient Greek phrase to ti ēn einai (literally, "what it is for a thing to be"), coined by Aristotle to denote a thing's essence.[wik def] that book must have been written by a non-tugger
I've always noticed that about the Taoist teaching about the male masturbation ever since I discovered it on the internet. And, of course, I've always been skeptical about it. As MJB(hmm, like coffee! ) said, the risk of illnesses such as prostate cancer may increase when a man does not ejaculate at least from time to time. Plus, Vegasman is also right because the male body, upon maturity, will always keep on producing "essence", thus the idea of it "running out" is a rather unlikely scenario. Of course, that is given the fact that the man is reasonably healthy, and with a reasonable level of sperm count and the works. Although, the Taoism is in no way a prudish kind of philosophy when it comes to sex. It DOES have a relatively positive view on sexuality. I just wish the same could be said about it's perception of male masturbation as well.
As soon as I saw the title of this thread, even before reading it, I could tell that religion was going to be at the root of it. Scientific claims that masturbation can be physically beneficial provide hard evidence (no pun intended) to back their claims up. Religious claims, however, always refer to grounds of faith & philosophy entering into the realms of pure imagination. Faced with the opposing claims from Science & Religion, regardless of what the claim may be, given the choice of Proof or Faith, I know which argument I would be siding with.
Why are females presenting themselves as authorities on male masturbation? Frankly, we don't need your advice, or permission, to masturbate. I agree with those who say that masturbation is good for a man, throughout his entire life. The thing that promotes prostate cancer is when the prostate is no longer "exercised" and becomes rigid, make it ripe for cancer to invade. I am probably older than most who visit this site. I still masturbate regularly and intend to do so as long as I live. If some "Lady" doesn't like it, she can find some other way to express her frustration.
I don't think any FEMALE in this thread is trying to take on the role of the authorities on male masturbation. The book was written by a MALE author. As a matter of fact, all of the ladies who have posted in this thread have so far been SUPPORTIVE of the male masturbation, not otherwise. Unless I missed something, in which case please correct me. Peace
I should have been more specific... The book doesn't say men should give up entirely, but ejaculate less and less frequently as he gets older. The book also covers ejaculation control. Everybody should read this book, the title (The tao of health, sex and longevity) says it all. I'm not posting this for any other reason than for spreading information about a subject not well known. Also, have a look at this: http://www.wilywalnut.com/sexgenius.html
It's probably completely untrue. The way I look at it, people will continue to masturbate no matter what. They just probably felt a little guiltier in doing so. Masturbation I would say can only be truly unhealthy when it gets in the way of a romantic relationship with another person, and you find yourself preferring to do it alone than with your partner. Then I feel it is unhealthy.
? Quite an unnecessary post don't you think? When no woman has done anything that you accuse us of?
Taoist ways of ejaculation control includes applying pressure to the perineum at the point of orgasm. There have been debates in regards to the safety of this method, because the damage to the perineum may promote erectile dysfunction. But Taoism also talks about separating ejaculation and orgasmic sensations, too. I'm still not too familiar with this but I'm interested in learning more about it. I've begun looking into the Tantra version of the same concept in the last year or so, and I've found it to be pretty neat so far. I think there's the spiritual aspect in both versions, but so far I haven't gotten very far. But the experience DOES tell you more about how you respond to physical stimulation during masturbation and stuff like that, so at least it's not bad to try. I don't practice Tantric masturbation so that I ejaculate less frequently. I just practice because I'd like to improve my performance.
