Jack Layton would be preferable to any of those.

He's right of center. That makes him right wing.

First - Neo Liberal, Conservative, neo-conservative and religious conservative – seem to be all manifestations of right wing thought.

Second ‘liberal’ it isn’t an alternative to right or left, there are left leaning liberals and right leaning liberals, in other words being ‘liberal’ doesn’t mean someone is not left wing or right wing in viewpoint.

    So really there is only

    Right wing

    Left wing

    *

What would I prefer – well…a sustainable system that was adaptable, democratic and pragmatic which brought the most amount of happiness to the most amounts of people while protecting the weak from the strong.

And I’d describe myself as a pragmatic left wing democrat with green leanings.

The question is what kind of world would you want and how would you go about achieving it, only then is it possible for others to categorise your thinking.

    For example vqcmxq

Says he prefers the neo-liberal / libertarian model typified by Ron Paul

This to me is a right wing stance.

It doesn’t stop being right wing even if vqcmxq didn’t claim to prefer right wing ideas.

I do generally agree with what you are saying. How do you feel about taking it a step further by adding Authoritarian and Libertarian as part of the right/left scale? This site is pretty interesting. I do consider myself right winged but not right in the sense that the State has complete authority over my life.
