I plan to buy 4 copies . for my family this Christmas..don't realy care for the song itself ..but thats not realy the point.
I'll probably buy it I haven't heard all of it but I've heard clips and it sounds pretty much the same as the old one. Thought they could have least got a new song
I love the fact that Bono and Justin what-his-face from The Darkness have descende into a feud over wanting to sing the same line... Go on Bono my son... kick him in the fucking teeth... one novelty christmas single and he thinks he own the fucking world... I hope it's better than Band Aid 2 was... that were real shite!!! Fly... ps... I feel like a real 80s timewarp is going on at the moment... phew... crazy mama...
The Band Aid 20 line-up Chris Martin Sir Paul McCartney (bass guitar) Bob Geldof Midge Ure Radiohead Robbie Williams Dido Bono Daniel Bedingfield Natasha Bedingfield Turin Brakes The Thrills Will Young Katie Melua Busted Joss Stone Lemar Jamelia Keane Beverley Knight The Darkness Dizzee Rascal Ms Dynamite Snow Patrol Sugababes Travis Danny Goffey (Supergrass, drums) Rachel Stevens Estelle Feeder The Divine Comedy Moloko Shaznay Lewis Morcheeba Ash Damon Albarn (serving tea) Some decent bands there
Some very decent bands there! Some I hadn't heard were on it til there now, Morcheeba and Turin Brakes. 'The Wright Stuff' did a thing about it, going on about how today's artists can't write a proper protest song and how Busted didn't even know why they were there - Just "read about it in this leaflet and it sounds really serious". Pfft, Tories But you know, it was probably Geldoff doing all the start-up work again. If he called you up saying would you like to help him re-record 'Do They Know It's Christmas', you're not gonna tell him to sod off and say I'll write me own. One thing though, I heard bits of the song on GMTV, just as they were singing in the studio, bit of a 'too many cooks' thing going on - sounded really awful everyone belting out their own particular style. One more thing There's a few mainstream artist writing the odd Anti-War/Anti-Bush tune, Travis being one I've heard of actually. So it's not like they can't do it really, they just don't have the big charity concert to go with.
why sugababes, jamelia, will young and busted????? not that i have anything against their music....i don't, really, honest. weird lineup. I think it should've been good bands doing it though. hoh well. i'll probably buy it for the good of the cause but i didn't really like the version of the song. the old one was better. replicating old stuff is BADBADBAD they should have just left it. the rapping bit was silly in my opinion and it sounded like a jumble of messyness. however, i may have liked the end bit, apparently mcartney organised that bit to sound like sgt pepper, but that's probs just a rumour......hmm overall, it's ok. should've done an original song though.
I think its good in a way it was re recorded ..not many young people have heard of of the 'old lot' so they can recognise the 'new lot' ...its the message and the cause that matters ..
I've heard the best thing ever... Apparantly Joss Stone had no idea who Bob Geldof was... not surprising being only 17 and not born when the original came out... so, not knowing who he was, it's been said that she spent the whole day calling him Sir Bob Gandalf... Oh I was fucking weak with laughing... Fly...
I think its cool- but i was kinda pissed off when i heard about justin hawkins and bono's little tiff. these guys are ment to be doing something for charity, to spread some sort of good will and all they do is fight over who sings what and start slagging eachother off saying how rubbish the other is. Its kinda selfish.
And I object to Justin because he's an ugly twat who sing in a fucking comedy heavy metal fucking wurzels... Fly...
i just think its shit how there are about a dozen decent song writters in that list, and they still have to do a cover version of a shit song..charity or not
