The intelligence of the genre

Again, people are not reading every sentence of my post. In my post, I have said that I have delved into other genres other than classic rock. I listen to blues, jazz, classical, older country, etc.

It is funny, put something down and people come out of the woodwork. This is why I started this thread. Why is that you say? Because I wanted to prove a point and that point has been proven in almost every post. Challenge someones listening pleasure, and they will attack you like dogs on a piece of meat. I have put myself in almost every category, except crap, I mean rap. And I will stand by my statement. Crap, I mean rap, is not music. It may be poetry set to a couple of bass notes, but it certainly is not music, and has no right to be even categorized as music. Music is the progression of many notes, and the more notes and the more instruments involved, the deeper is the music. Crap, I mean rap is shallow. Anyone can rhyme words, and my dog can make a few bass notes. But that doesnt make it music.

Anyone may be able to write a verse or a couple lines...That's a poem. Barely anyone could write a song, a couple songs, and album, and for damn sure couldn't make a career out of it. I hope you realize there's a difference of an overall angry person, and a person angry over something specific. What were angry about is something specific, your ignorant comments that you think hold some kind of importance.

My stand of speaking English in America, especially on such an institution of Monday Night Football, has nothing to do with the topic at hand. If you lived most of your life in the southwest, and seen how the Mezcan influence has fucked over so many( IE not being able to get a job because you cant speak Mezcan in America) And I mean anything from a mininum wage job to a managerial position, maybe you might have feelings about it, but then again, you are still wet behind the ears and have no idea of what is really happening in this country. I could go on about much more of what you stated elsewhere, but that does not belong here. You are fishing for anything against me, and you are now talking about things you dont even have a clue about. If you want to talk about those subjects, please take it up in the appropriate forum. Again, you are very hostile when it comes to such a simple subject of music, and you are trying to project my other views onto this subject. Again, I think I have to rack this up to the intelligence of the genre.

 

I see why you would say that about Mexican's (even though it's still bullshit) but not blacks. What have blacks done? And don't blame it on mexicans for your place in the world. That's your fault you didn't push yourself in school. That's why in school they REQUIRE you take a second language, usually 2-3 years. You see, educated people don't just assume this is "white american" land, they see that this is OUR country. No one has anymore claim to this land then the next race. Sorry I can't take that up in the appropriate forum since it was CLOSED for those comments. Okay so now that's against the rules? You can say people are angry for listening to rap loudly, but you yourself are not an angry person for cursing other races because you realize your a low life and that races you hate are rising above you?

I’ve heard a lot of music so oversaturated with notes, instruments, and recording tricks that it has eventually lost its authentic impulse, if it even existed in the beginning. Very often complex compositions indicate just shallowness of thought and feelings of their composers. One of the intrinsic traits of a genius is simplicity. Good musicians don’t care about the complexity of their music, and just this, among other things, makes it really deep.

Any effort to confine music reminds of Sysiphus with his stone – however much you try, music eventually will break all artificial limitations.

And I don’t have to tell you that many classic rock songs, those among the best of the genre, are quite simple in comparison with classic jazz pieces or improvisations, for example. Just look what Grant Green or Dr. Lonnie Smith made with The Beatles’ songs. This doesn’t make those songs bad, of course.

Think it is BS? Ok, but you have no clue. Look at the State of Nevada and explain why one town, Pahrump, tried to make it illegal to speak anything but English. This is the only town I know about that has tried this, because it is in my State of Nevada, but this is a big problem across the Southwest. Again, you are not here. Do some studies. As for a second language, I went to High School in the late 70's and early 80's, and College after that, and a second language was never an issue. We grew up and spoke the language of this country, ENGLISH. But that is not the case anymore. Now, in some cases, you have to press 2 on the telephone here to get English, and that just aint right. This is America. We have been English speaking since the inception of this country. But that is slowly changing, and idiots like you wont stand up against it. You dont care wether the heritage of this country sinks to the Wetback takeover. Yeah, thats right, I said it, because I am, or actually was once proud of this fine nation, but the times, they are a changing, and certainly not for the better.

You've made a snap judgment dismissing an entire musical genre (because you heard it coming from someone's car????)... proclaimed your own musical tastes to be not only superior to everyone else's, but also to be a sign of a superior intellect... you've failed to realize that your post is insulting, elitist and borderline racist... and you still think you're a genius because you listen to some music that other people have made?

Man,if this was a dogpile,zillagod would be buried 25 people deep!I don't much like rap either,but I never lived the life in which rap formed and matured.I'm older than ZG,so I remember when there was no rock and roll and blacks weren't even allowed on the radio.Doesn't make me an expert about any of it--but I know what I like when I hear it.Used to swear I didn't like country,but that's not true any more.Never bought a classical record,but enjoy very much hearing some.Some old Dave Brubeck stuff with the weird time signatures still moves me.Went thru the 50s when rock was forming and thought "how could music advance any farther?"Man,was I wrong.I guess I've been able to enjoy music from about any genre and sub-genre and it's been interesting seeing them all as they come along.I get caught up pretty fast on polka though!Now I'd much rather listen to NIN,Ministry,Skinny Puppy and others my kids listen to whose names I mostly don't even know.Tha's how it lays out for me.

Yes, I do know, and I do know who Robert Johnson is. I also know who BB King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Cray, etc etc etc are and love all their music. Again, another who is missing the point.
