Ummm 16 months I think. Blah. Well I was unofficial apprentice/hang-around, which was really cool. Started noticing more and more gaps in his hygiene routines. Major cross-contamination issues. Asked him about it, to find out whether he did/didn't know what he was doing. His own apprenticeship wasn't very good so I thought maybe he simply had never been taught certain things. Turned out he just doesn't give a shit, and can't seem to differentiate between getting a bit of dirt in your own grazed knee, and sharing other people's blood for them. I stopped going a week ago and left a note in his post box explaining why. So, going it alone now. I'll get there in the end At least I won't be spreading diseases around Norway. Professionals are meant to be better than scratchers, not the other way around!
Yep. The first thing I noticed was that he answers his phone and changes tracks on the iPod mid-tattoo without any glove changes. (Correct procedure would be: remove gloves, wash hands, touch object, wash hands, new gloves). Both those objects are already contaminated with anything he touches during the day, plus the blood of everyone he tattoos, all of which is going back into people's blood, and all over anything else he may touch afterwards. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. He really might as well tattoo with no gloves and dirty needles because it amounts to the same. Apparently I'm a paranoid germ freak for thinking such things matter... ?!?
Well he'll wish he was a paranoid germ freak when he gets a law suit for giving some poor guy a long term disease. That's nasty though. Makes you wonder how many other places malpractice hygiene..
And it just really takes the piss out of conscientious amateurs, having to make their own way tattooing from home, who just automatically get looked down on as scratchers, even if they're doing absolutely everything possible to ensure safe practices. Blah. /rant

Thanks And yes, same tattooist, so I have an unfinished tattoo as well and since the tattoo community here is quite small and everyone knows everyone, might be hard getting it finished. Wish it had been on my left arm, then I might have stood a chance of finishing it myself one day! haha. Ah well Still happy coz the whole thing helped me figure out what to do with my life etc.
you look gorgeous as always amybee, the length is awesome and the sidecut is badass. and yazz, I am a freak when it comes to hygienic practices in tattooing/piercing too. and I always shoot up with a fresh syringe
oh and amy I loveee the sidecut, isn't it so nice to sleep on? I'm still getting used to how it looks when it's down as you have more hair on one side. your dreads are gorgeouusuzza
Loving your dreads ammyy They have gotten so much longer and thicker the last time we had a peek :O!! And shit about that tattooist.. You should spread the word about his hygiene issues, warn everyone. Hope you can get all your tattoos sorted asap
