I highly think that people have the total wrong perspective on the bible. Its nothing more then a book, like a story of shakespear. Just a book, a story of the ideal man, and how man should act. Gives people morals, and teachings. A book for people to base there actions around, a book that helps people make decisions, a book for people to relate too, a book. thats it. thats all. a book. written by people. who ever told u it was real is insain. who ever told u to believe that its true, your insain for believing it. Its a story, a book, thats it thats all. why people believe it and act like its true i don't know. but thats not why it was written. it was written by man, for man for them to base there life around. when people have troubles, it gives them something to refer to. A story about a man, a man who cares for all, a man who thinks before he acts, a man whos heart is as big as the world he lives on, Jesus. Jesus was just a man. A man to be modled after. The men who wrote it, would think its insain the people fallow it like its true, like its the point of life. They would not appreciate it.

The insanity is in believing it is not real but something magical as opposed to useful. A relic alluding to a future instead of a tool for obtaining the present.

It is probably also an attempt by people living before the advent of science to understand the physical world, hence the creation myths. But yes, it is just a book written by men and I agree that it is beyond insane to take it as the true word of god. Also I think the story of jesus is much more meaningful if he is not the son of god but rather just an ordinary man.

By the statements attributed to him this is so. He who believes on me believes not in me but the one who sent me.

It's not as if all of the physical evidence against the whole creation story validates atheism or invalidates theism. It just completely invalidates the bible, the entire basis for christianity and the only source christians have to the word of their god (save for the magical mystical hallucinating ones). Christians know that their moral codes are based off of the writings of mortal men and have no way of knowing that any of the bible was the word if their lord. In fact it's nearly certain that it's heavily adulterated by men throughout the ages.

It certainly invalidates the concept of the Bible being the unadulterated word of God. All moral codes are varying degrees of social taboo. Taboo is used to distinguish us from them, not to make us distinguished before God.
