death at GOTV, please read

To all of Jay's friend, We, the Bridgeport, Connecticut Police, are trying to determine exactly what happened to Jay. We are confident that his body was dumped in an empty campsite where he had not been staying. At this time, his cause of death is undetermined. However, his autopsy revealed no foul play and we are awaiting toxicology results which can take up to six weeks. We will honor any and all anonymous tips. I know the nitrous gangs were bad this year


An absurd situation occured where I was camping in West camping this year. Let it be known that I am against "nitrous alley" and the disrespect that the nitrous vendors show towards people trying to have a good time. With this being said, there are people who enjoy nitrous, just as others enjoy other recreational substances. I see no issue with people indulging in nitrous as long as everyone is being respectful.

The situation that I am about to describe was very disturbing and eye opening. There was an innocent festival go-er who was vending nitrous on a small scale next to where I was camping. He was not vending nitrous all weekend and was not part of the "nitrous mafia" or "nitrous alley". He was also not disrespectful to anyone around him. Actually, he got along with all of his neighbors. On Sunday afternoon, a mob of festival go-ers, claiming they were the "family" sought out this individual and it got out of hand. They came running through campsites yelling "where are the tanks". I witnessed them see our neighbor and ransack him and his tent. They punched one of his friends in the face, and proceeded to give a bloody face. They then chased down the owner of the tent. "the family" beat this man with maglights and fists and sticks. The victim was yelling "take the tanks" and apologized perfusely but the mob ignored his pleas. After this, the mob picked up the now emptied nitrous tanks and threw every one through every single window of the car, slashed every single tire of the car, and damaged the body of the car. During this whole escapade, the mob was yelling "its our money, its our money". They also stole every penny out of the victim's pockets. It turns out that the person's car who got wrecked had nothing to due with the nitrous vending.

I think it is pathetic that these people who call themselves "the family", who are supposed to be a free loving and violence free community ("hippies") ignited this situation to occur. Throughout this whole event, the victim was trying to reason with them and it did not have to turn into violence.

If these people call themselves "family" they should be setting an example through love and kindness, not total pathetic actions of rage.

The poor person who got his $50,000 brand new family member's truck destroyed should be reimbursed for these needless actions of a bunch of scummy people. GET JOBS, stop wheeling and dealing.

Nitrous attracts losers, not hippies

In the 90's, "nitrous alley" weirdos are ones who destroyed the peaceful loving Grateful Dead scene. As soon as nitrous showed up, it brought in a bad element of people. Or should I kids. These are the same jerks who crashed the gates at shows, started arguments and fights in the parking lot, so much so, the Dead threatened to stop touring - if the bad behavior didn't stop. These jerks were giving The Grateful Dead a bad name after 25-30 years of touring at the time. And the band was pissed. They even had flyers passed out at shows, telling the so-called ''fans'' to knock the shit off or they weren't touring no more. And they asked the real DeadHeads to police the scene. To save the scene.

o.k. rant over...that is just my view.

Anyway, I hope they find the bastards who murdered this poor soul.
