My girlfriends cat knocked my chillum off the counter and it broke . It was like my favorite piece too, liked it way more than any bong. 2 pieces broke off the bowl and I used this JD expoxy to put them back together. Is it okay to do this? Or does that stuff burn or something?
once the chemicals are fully set up it should be fine, though you may want to check to see how it responds to heat before you inhale.
I would get a new one. Who knows what might come out of it if you're smoking right next to the weld...or right on it if it's the bowl....but....I'm a little paranoid about that stuff.
This one cannot be replaced. Wish I could upload pictures. But its fine, I have been using it all day.
Yeah.......you could probably smoke out of it for 20 years and get less toxins than one big smelly truck driving by you.
They make a UV activated epoxy that is safe for what you're trying to do. Check abrimagery.com and search glue. JB Weld is some pretty nasty shit.
I used JB weld on my exhaust system on my vehicle and for 6 months after that there were very bad smelling toxic fumes that would come off of it and choke me out inside the car. It took along time to cook off... I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS! do not inhale heated JB weld!! It can't be good for you, but my exhaust runs at 1200-1500 degrees F. At 2000 degrees at high boost it lets off more fumes, so more heat makes more toxic fumes.
I heard that reusing broken pipes can cut your throat with tiny pieces of broken glass. i'm not 100% sure how true this is though.
JB weld is an Epoxy resin... About 90% of the epoxy resins used are manufactured by condensation of two molecules of epichlorhydrin with one or more molecules of bisphenol A (2,2-bis (4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane). The mutagenic action of simple epoxides such as ethylenoxide and epichlorhydrin was first shown in fruit flies and has subsequently been demonstrated in a wide range of organisms. Epoxy resins are diepoxides and bifunctional alkylating agents, and bifunctional alkylating epoxides are known to be mutagenic.. Mutagens are suspected of having a carcinogenic effect because of the relationship between carcinogenicity and mutagenicity and most diepoxides are carcinogenic in mice and rats. We report here that aromatic epoxy resins are mutagenic in Salmonella typhimurium, and may thus represent a cancer risk in man. http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v276/n5686/abs/276391a0.html They say it is inert when fully cured, but personally I wouldn't use it on anything you're gonna touch, let alone smoke out of...
