Hey all... I have been lurking around for awhile and reading lots of your advice as I am relocating from Australia to England in 7 weeks and I really would l like to start my 'new life' doing something that I have always wanted to do...bite the bullet and get dreads... So I had a bright idea to 'try and find somewhere in Thailand' that does them professionally - then I researched it and found out that it is really common and they all do it with wax (which I didn't want). So my question is - does anyone know if there are places that you can get dreadlocks one in Laos? Or any tips for getting them done in Thailand? I really need to have them professionally done as I hope to get a job in my profession when I reach England...
I'd suggest biting the bullet after you get dreads... in all seriousness though do them yourself twist'n'rip, backcomb, natural the choice is yours baby
7 weeks aint any time, no matter which dreadlock method you choose they're gonna look a mess still in 7 weeks regardless of whether someone claims to be "professional" (which makes me laugh)...also Thailand is probably the last place I'd want to get someone to try and start dreadlocks...unless you speak decent Thai...and with Asian hair being different to Caucasian hair (which I only assume you have?)....either way you can't rush it just to try and have them before such a short deadline >.>
one thing ive learned from lurking in these forums is that you gotta treat getting dreadlocks like planning a pregnancy. dreads take alot of time for them to be what you want. so if now isnt your time then just wait. im pretty sure your time will come. just make good decisions really.
not really, watch some of the videos of the thai people makin dreads. they look perfect when they are done, not saying i suggest doing it. but im just saying it looks good immediately.
