i rarely drink soda... my friends and family are aware of that too and know now not to ask if i want soda. there's once in a while i want some but like i said that's rarely, i stick to water and fruit juices. yes it does make a difference to your health, soda has a lot of nasty shit in it that is not good for you.. i'm no scientist so i can't tell you exactly but it is pretty, not good, for you.

I would say that its pretty bad for you.I do drink some once in a great while, but I only drink the kind made with pure cane sugar. Not that it makes it any better for you but I try to avoid things with corn syrup in them.

At first glance I thought the picture of the pile of sugar cubes in raz's signature was part of her post in reference to the contents of soda. So, yes, I think it's fair to say it's pretty bad for one's health. Think about it: it's a totally artificial drink. Nothing beneficial to it whatsoever.

They should have a soda that has like vitamins in it or something, then there might be a reason to drink it. They can call it vitamin soda ;)

I was recently told something alarming about soda from a doctor friend of mine. I don't know for sure that it's true, but she said she saw it herself when she was in med school.

She said that when you drink soda your blood gets flooded almost instantly with calcium. The calcium isn't coming from the soda (it has none) so it must be coming from your bones. Your body is desperately trying to bring your blood's acidity back into balance to counter the acidity of the soda you drank, and it does this by literally peeling apart your bones. This happens whether you're drinking diet soda or regular, the acidity has to do with the citric and or/phosphoric acid. Keep in mind, also, that soda will degrade your teeth, this is proven.

Again, I do not know that this is true, and I don't care enough to research it. I just don't drink soda, period.

I have to admit that I drink Coke. I can't stay away from it completely but I try and limit myself to one or two cans a day. I try and only drink soda with a meal. Other times I try and drink water or ice tea.

They already have "vitamin water" that contains sugar. So it's basically soda with vitamins being marketed as vitamin water.

And I don't know if you're joking or what. Pumping vitamins into liquid is nearly useless. They're isolated from natural enzymes, fiber or fat and liquid doesn't get digested like solid food so there will be little to no absorption.

Not to mention sugar in anything is one of the worst things a person can put in their body, canceling out any benefit from vitamins if there would be any benefit from those vitamins if they were actually absorbed. It would take some serious willful ignorance to use vitamins in soda as a rationalization for drinking it.

I cannot stand anything carbonated. It just puts gas into your body and I dont really see why you would want to feel bloated and gassy. But then again most people dont even know they are bloated and gassy all day anyway so I doubt they notice.

Soda is nice once in a while. I drink it every 2-4 months. It just depends if you enjoy doing it, then it's ok in moderation.
Lol I don't know I think that vitamin soda would be a huge hit. After all vitamin water is isn't it? People in America would much rather have vitamin soda than vitamin water lol.

Moderation is indeed the key. The body is resilient and heals itself with the proper nutrition and support. For the vast majority of people moderation seems to be non existent. I see my co workers drinking 3 a day minimum. *wince*

It would most definitely be a huge hit. All of the silly ignorant fools would drink a 12 pack a day thinking that they were doing themselves a favor while killing themselves slowly.

It's my opinion that if it has any significant amount of sugar no matter what the other benefits are (although in vitamin soda there wouldn't be any benefits) it's junk. People really need to get a grip on their sugar consumption. I think I'm down to 8 grams a day. 4 in organic ketchup and 4 in almond milk. I don't think I can give those up but that doesn't seem to me that bad. The recommended maximum is usually 40 grams.

Yeah I just have red bull or an energy drink once a month or more, and I like root beer and orange cream soda, and especially sasperilla (haven't had it in so long).
But I have to disagree stabby. Honey is very good for you, it is full of sugar but if your body can tolerate it then it doesn't matter since you get all that nutrition. And what about bee pollen? This is one of the most nutritious foods in the whole world and it is sugary.

It really depends on the severity of the insulin spike and the amount of fructose metabolization vs the benefit of whatever you're eating. Sugar isolated from fat and fiber wreaks havoc on the metabolism, insulin receptors and the liver so as far as honey goes I don't care if it has antifungal or antioxidant properties, I won't eat it. Plenty of other things that fit into my nutritional plan do those without the harm.

Most protein types persist eating junk like grains and simple sugars without realizing how much better their metabolisms work and how much better their health is when they cut those things completely. Perhaps you're a carb type. Have you been tested yet?

What? Are you talking about STDs? lol. But yeah honey is one of my favorite things because honestly I am addicted to sugar, not nearly as bad as I used to be, but yeah honey is a good way to satisfy my sugar need. I also feel like I have more energy afterwords, and I feel like my health is signifigantly better the next day even. That's what I do I keep eating things like honey until I start to notice that it's doing more harm than good. But I have had alot of honey and I plan having it alot throughout life.
What about bee pollen though? You didn't say anything about that. That is the food of the Gods.

I mean metabolic typing. You honestly haven't heard of it?

Eating sugar for anybody, even honey, is one of the worst things you can do. You most certainly have elevated insulin levels. When the insulin levels are elevated, the body doesn't burn its stored fat for energy and a person has cravings for sugar. When they get their fix they feel great and have energy only until the sugar runs out and they need more. Sugar becomes the good guy in their minds because life is so much more sullen without it. It's like any drug.

Of course the worst part of honey is the fructose. Insulin and all of its problems aside the fructose is what will harm you the very most. You're 19 years old! Your body has yet to break down significantly and you may not perceive any negative effects but sugar abuse adds up quickly. Just a warning. It strikes me as contradictory that you're so paranoid about the most insignificant contaminants and toxins that the body can easily contend with and yet you eat sugar.

And please don't lie to me. Nobody's health gets "significantly better" in a single day, and especially not from eating honey. There is no way that any benefit it has is worth the damage you're doing to yourself.

I don't know anything of bee pollen.

I don't know what metabolic typings are.

I used to eat as much sugar as I could when I was a kid. Mabey that's how my body worked back then, but then I started to notice from eating all that sugar day after day I started to realize that I had a problem. So then when I was 16 or 17 I just cut down like 50-70% of my sugar intake. Now that I have done that, I feel much healthier and clean. With that being said, I still love sugar, and cannot live completely without it.

I'm not "lying" usually if I have a really good diet one day I can wake up the next day and "feel" great. I don't know if that's placebo but I don't care because it's awesome. With Bee pollen, I literally feel better/more alive AS I'm eating it, I highly recommend you look into the pollen.

The BEST kind of sugar that you can have is agave syrup, I know that. I don't know how bad it is for you though, not as bad as honey.

I will look into bee pollen if you will look into metabolic typing. Google it, it's powerful stuff. Also maybe research the ill effects of fructose without intrinsic fiber.

The whole feeling great thing is relative. I would have said that I felt great before I got on my new specified metabolic typing diet and now I feel better.
