I was just wondering if anyone else here listens to U2...
I like their stuff from the early days, like With or Without You.
Bono is a cool writer, I think.

I loved their John Lennon cover too. (Sunday Bloody Sunday), and I almost hate all Lennon covers.
(No one lives up to John...I'm so stubborn, lol).

I really like U2 & I think that Bono is one hell of a song writer. But...there are some people on this forum who think that U2 is just way too overblown & bombastic. Hey, it makes their song even more passionate.

I dont know how anyone could even possibly think that song was by john lennon, unless they believed a track they downloaded from napster or kazaa.

Well, yes... but I also lost count of the times I've read people here posting about Pink Floyd's great hit "We Don't Need No Education" :)

I'm okay with U2, I'm not a big fan, but I respect what they do as musicians and what they've got to say in some of their earlier work.

Rubin, it depends on the age, too. When I was 13 I would have called a Pink Floyd song by a long string of lyrics within the song of theirs, but not once I was past the age of naivity, and inherent laziness. This is why you'll see me be very kind and caring to people under the age of 14 who say something stupid on here, and very arrogant and disrespectful to someone of an age much higher than that of the kid saying something stupid. When you're young, it's okay, when you're older, there's simply no excuse for your idiocy and if someone doesn't inform you, you won't ever try to better yourself. You have to be kicked in the sack a few times before you think to wear a cup. I see it as being cruel to be kind, others see it as not minding my own damned business. Eh, opinions, opinions.

If you're too lazy to look up the title of a song you're not sure about, either don't post it, or be ready to have someone flame you for it, which apparently didn't have to be me this time :). Maybe the person flaming you will be the reason you end up well versed on something, anything, in life. There're a million search engines, it's the age of the internet for Christ's sake, it's easier than it's ever been to get it right.

You know, Sunday Bloody Sunday is about the massacre on the northern Irish people by the southern Irish protestants in some year in the early '70s, I think '72. It should be pretty easy to guess that Bono's Irish ass would write a song about that. lol

lol, my dad would slap me for not knowing the exact date. I'm very Irish. He's an American-Irish, and he still has a grudge against the British. haha Sad.

    I hate U2.
I think they are about as overrated as The Beatles. But as least The Beatles came up with some catchy tunes...
