well tuesday my school said they were doing a "lockdown" incase someone were enter with a gun. Well i knew they were bringing dogs, but they didnt say that. They had 5 cruisers and 3 suvs come with around 6-7 dogs, and they just happened to smell my friends car, and tore it apart to find nothing while he was on a field trip and knew nothing about it. is this illegal?
Unfortunately no. If your friend attends this school and parked his car in the schools parking lot, the principal of the school reserves the right to search anyone's personal belongings, including locker and car without a need for warrant or even probable cause. As long as your in that school the principal has the option of searching you and your shit at random. It doesn't matter anyway. If the dog seemed to indicate that there was something in your friends car...even a traffic stop would have given them right to search it.
