Setting everything up this week, figured I would start a journal to help keep me organized, to help to get any feedback, and hopefully help anyone who stumbles across this online.

I have 2 125w CFLs a friend gave them to me for free and I am going to go purchase a couple of 26w CFLs at 2700k to help during flowering. I was considering getting a 400w conversion set-up so I could use MH during vegging and HPS during flowering, but since I have 2 large, free CFLs I think I will stick to those for now and I am not sure how the temperatures would be with an HID in the closet.

I am planning on having 6 plants, in a walk-in closet that is going to be converted into a grow room. I plan on using a 50/50 mix of Fox Farm's Ocean Forest with perlite to aerate the soil. I've decided to mix the light spectrum and keep it consistent throughout the process, possibly adding more 2700k during flowering if temperatures will allow. I will purchase supplies tonight and should have set-up done or close to done by this weekend. I will do my best to post pictures when it's completed.

    Current Supplies:
    6- 5 gallon buckets
    6- 3 gallon buckets
    ph tester (soil)
    2 - 125w CFLs at 6500k
    6 - 26w CFLs at 2700k
2 bathroom light bars (3 bulbs per bar)
    Lamp cords for wiring
    Timer w/ power strip
Fox Farm Ocean Forest organic soil
    Perlite
    Bagseeds

    Supplies Needed:
    Grow Lab 145
    2 Lumatek Electronic Ballasts
    2 Cooltube Reflectors
    20' 4'' ducting
    4'' 200cfm inline fan
    4'' activated carbon scrubber
Nutrients: Fox Farm Big Bloom and Fox Farm Grow Big
    B'cuzz root enhancer

Sounds like a solid set up. I might recomend that you get a couple of small HPS fixtures for flowering. Even adding a couple of 70w security lights would boost your output and improve your quality. Think about it while you veg. Also I prefer a mix of 2 parts Ocean Forest to one part pearlite, with about 2 cups of dolimite lime per bag of Fox Farm. You might need to add nutrition at some point so I keep on hand various organic fertilizers. Good Luck.

Delayed because a friend sprung some flowering plants on me. So I have some plants flowering under my light set-up with some inline fans from Radioshack, thrown together in 10 minutes because he just showed up with them because they had to be moved from outdoors for security reasons. I don't really mind, but my set-up was not complete yet. They are doing good though and man does it smell in my room haha.

Welcome to the wonderful world of mj growing.
Top tip. Agree with FarmerJ on adding a couple of low wattage hps these will give you the light penetration power to grow nice pussy cat tails of bud.

If I were to just try out my first grow, using CFLs does anybody have an idea of how much I could get per plant with like maybe 3 plants? I'm sure a couple would end up being males.

pushit.........if all 3 were fem's......being a first grow and under cfl's id say shoot for 1/4oz per plant....

back on track tho........id advise against getting the Fox Farm grow big...........i tried it forever and always seemed to be too strong.........which could have been strain dependent but still...........however, i do recommend the Fox Farm Big Bloom........that stuff is awesome...........very hard to burn your plants with that.

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is pretty strong right outta the bag.........if anything, id maybe add some of their Peace of Mind All Purpose dry fert AFTER the plants are already established in plain Ocean Forest.....then once flowering hits you can play with whatever nutes you feel viable........but for just veg plants, straight ocean forest is good stuff IMHO...just my 2 cents.......

Shit has been delayed for awhile because I had to finish flowers some plants and then I had to move, but I will be proceeding soon. I wanted to do a quick update letting everyone know I am not abandoning this journal.

I am scanning Craigslist everyday for my remaining materials, I want a HID and I am still considering whether I want to build my own set-up or buy a grow tent. Heat might be an issue so I really want to make sure ventilation and everything is good.

Found a pretty good deal today actually but it comes with a 16 site aeroponic system and I was really leaning towards going organic. I am going to ask him if he will split it up instead of sell it as a package, otherwise it's decision time because it's a good deal and hard to pass up.
