I have been growing for over 2 years now and have watched my electricity bill go up and up every time I added more lights. I just wanted to let others know that I have already cut my bill in half with solar panels. I plan on adding a few more and then my grow op will be 100% free. I was spending on average $350 more per month. I have cut that down to $150 so far just in my first phase of testing. If your interested there are allot of DIY sites out there. One that I found to be the best and is working for me is HERE . I will keep you posted on what my results are once I add some more panels. For others out there reading this, have you ever tried this and what was your outcome?
wow, 350$ a month? how many kilowatts are you running? im only paying like 100$ a month for my 600w and all the ventilation. also, how expensive was the solar panel installation?
solar is far to expensive to be practical running high wattage lamps. figure 5 dollars a watt MINIMUM just for the solar panels, yes you would need far more than 600 watts of panels to power a 600 watt light.
I dont mind what the weatherman says if the weatherman says its raining ya never hear me complaining. Its possible but would probably take the next 200 yrs to pay for its self.
I applaude you for going green. Like LED experiments, alternative power sources are the future! When talking about the expense of new tech. think about what is happening to the environment, also nobody thought the the economy could go where it's gone.......what will happen when we reach the supply (of power) can't meet the demand!>\
thats awesome. the sun shines on your house, goes through a bunch of wires and shit, then shines the plants on your closet. its like the circle of life
the op says had bill cut in half--if true all you haters with your charts dont matter---congrats and wishing you prosparity in the future---growers rule--Peace
how much u got there man! thats crazy high prices..... unless it's where you live or somthing idk....
I would say if you have already made the switch to solar power you should check out LED grow lights as well. I recently bought mine from Guru Grow Lights. They have a good research page on LED grow lights.
