So I know we've got near a month and a half left before the end of the year comes and we're thrown into 05, but why not get this out of the way now?

So what has everyone's favorite album of this year been?

Mine is Old Crow Medicine Show's self titled album. It was released earlier this year, like feb or march I believe. It really did floor me. At first I thought they were an older band from the 60's or something, since there was a bit of a revival in that scene of music then and because they talked about Nam and whatnot in their songs. Then one night I was flicking through the channels and I passed by MTV to hear a the first of 3 fiddle solo's in "Wagon Wheel" so I immedietly flicked back... and what do I see but a bunch of young looking guys in a fairly modern scene of a county fair.

It's a wonderful album, singing of desperation and good times. I really liked this album more than any I could think of to come out this year. I was confident that this award would go to beck, but then his album got pushed back to early 05.... now that will no doubt be my favorite album of next year.

I like Interpol's "Antics", The Thrills "Let's Bottle Bohemia", Ben Jelen "Give it all Away", Gavin DeGraw "Chariot" & yes...Hanson "Underneath". The last 3 were b-day gifts. I haven't heard Ambulance LTD's self titled yet, but the singer's pretty cute. I met the singer from Secret Machines & he was pretty nice, & I like their song, so I want 2 hear their album 2, as well as Midnight Movies self titled. I guess that's it for now.

I saw about 15 min. into Secret Machines' show and left.

    because it sucked.

The drummer was bombastic and redundant and the guitarist was too busy playing with his fucking effects peddles to get anything done.

Hmm. Thanx Roy Harper. I've never seen them, but I hope they're better than that. Maybe it was a bad night or something.

Either Demigod by Behemoth or XES haereticum by Enthroned. I haven't heard enough of the new Marduk cd, Plague angel, to judge.

My favorite of this year has been Of Montreal's Satanic Panic In The Attic. It's pretty bizarre in places but it keeps me entertained for an entire album, which is rare these days.

As for the Secret Machines, I think they're great. But I absolutely HAVE to have earplugs to see them live. For three people they churn out quite a bit of volume. They also do a really out cover of Van Morrison's "Astral Weeks". Also, they have that ability to be either really awesome or really not awesome...but I still like them.
