PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!!!!! i have some shit on my computer called security tool and apparently it's something know as "scareware" and i've been researching how to get it off my computer because it's fucking everything up and all i can find is websites telling me to buy their program and it'll get rid of security tool, but i don't have money to buy that shit. there has got to be another way to do it right? if anyone knows anything about security tool or getting rid of it, i would be oh so grateful for your help. Thanks -Ky
it got rid of all of the icons on my desktop and my background and it wouldn't let me log onto the internet for the longest time, it's driving me nuts.
Does this thing give false security reports? Supposedly it's a scam that reports malware on your computer that can't be removed unless you buy their product. I did a google search and found some removal tools for free.
Sorry dude. I was responding to the OP about this "Security Tool" thing her computer is infected with. I should have quoted her in my post.
My girlfriend had something similar a few months ago, and I found a free removal tool. People have figured out how to remove almost all of these things, and the solutions are always provided for free by someone. It usually takes searching forum boards to find the solution.
I'd advise download AVG Free Version and updating and running. Adaware Freeware version. SpyBot Search and Destroy... And I think you can get Avast on a 30 day licence, and run a full scan, this will run at Bios level, so any locked registries within windows can be accessed and cleaned if needs be. I've had stuff like that before, it's a fucking nightmare !! Hope you get sorted man. Peace
That's exactly what it is. Thanks for all the information guys, i downloaded Avira like ROLLINGALONG suggested and i haven't had any problems with it since. you guys were all very helpful, Thank you so much
Ok,soooo my lil' bro has this security tool shit on his computer now and it won't let me download any anti-virus softwar, it says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the apporiate permission to access the item." anyone know how to get around this?
Knowing what Windows OS you are using would help. but moving on... it's your brothers computer. leave it alone. and for everybody else... this aint always a 'log in as administrator' fix.
