Seen loads of different shampoo ideas and whatever from all over the forum so thought it'd be a good idea to make a thread where everyone can write there shampoo recipe conconctions or just chat about how they wash there dreads, what products they use etc, Or if you use bronners what sort of ratio do you use?

    Chat away :D

I use Dr Bronners, someone said that it needs to be diluted 12 parts water to one part Bronners. This just didn't work, couldn't get it lather and well it was just shit.

So depending how cash strapped I am I do a couple of things. The first concoction is that I get an empty 475ml bottle of Bronners and fill it up to where the label starts at the bottom of the bottle with Dr B's and then fill up to the top with water.

Buying the 475ml bottles is just way too much for me these days £11 incl p&p and Swampy directed me to this amazing site where I can get 59ml bottles of Bronners for £1.59 so I put one whole bottle of those in a 475ml bottle and dilute the same way as the above concoction.

Now personally I think that diluting Dr Bronners isn't necessary apart from if you want your neat bottle to last you about a year. So what I prefer to do is get a few drops on my hand and lather it in my hair, and repeat this three times.

Also once a month I do an ACV rinse to clarify. Again I get a 475ml bottle of Bronners pour in two capfuls of ACV fill to top with water and add about four heaped teaspoons of baking soda [nb put the baking soda in last as it'll fizz all over the place].

I pour it gradually over my hair rubbing it in like you do with shampoo as I go then I scrub it in real good and leave it in for 5 mins and rinse.

    Loooong post. Eeeek.

I agree. I used to dilute a lot, then less and less, until I gave up on that and just lather it up.
I like it better that way.

sometimes I use baking soda/water, sometimes water, sometimes bronners.
Just whatever I feel like would be best at the time.

I've used DHHQ for the year and a half I've had me dreadlols. I use a good squirt in a bottle with a sports cap (good ol' powerade), like, 3 2p piece's worth, fill half way with water, giv' eet a sHAKKE and then use half on my scalp. I save the other half for next time ^^ Lather and rinse :)

I switched to the bonners bar once but it made my hair go all squeaky and rubbery when I washed it out and I hated that ><

Im usin KB liquid right now, like once evrey 2 weeks, and water every few days. I actually like it quite a bit. Lather it up and scrub mah scalp like a madman. I used to be all nice and gentle, but then realised that it wasn't helping em to lock anyway. Any hairs that come out weren't locked in there anyway, and they find a new home right quick.

I also do a deep cleanse every month or so. I brew up a strong dark tean with rosemary, peppermint, thyme, and any other herb I feel like throwin in. Then I may add lemon or lime, some tea tree oil, some bicarb, and some ACV. Then I dunk and soak for like a 1/2 hour, then rinse and wash as usual.

    Das ist mah dreadlockio routine:cheers2:

    I get around...
    either just water

or some baking soda (no measure, just a few spoonfuls in a small travel shampoo bottle + water, shake and apply)

or diluted Dr. B's (in a medium sized travel shampoo flask type thing, shake, squeeze out the sudzz) I don't measure, but the ratio is about 1:10 (Dr.B:Water)

I was given a bar of Dr. B's, but haven't gotten around to trying it

    i use this:

Grab a big bowl of warm water, or hot-ish if you can stand it.
Add 3/4 cup of baking soda,
8-9 drops of tea tree oil,
2 table spoons of lemon juice,
and 2 table spoons of sea salt,
stir and stir until it's disolved.

Soak dreads in the bowl or use a sqirt bottle or something similar to apply it to your scalp and dreads.

Grab a towel and wrap it aroud your head and leave it there for around half an hour, or more.

Rinse it out, really well. And that's it!

and it works awesomely :D the water that comes out is always real mucky and the dreads are left clean without getting too fluffy or anything
