I have come today to complain! yay me. For the past few days i've been having bad pains on the left of me.. near the abdomen. I've also been having slight uterin (pardon my spelling??) pains. The pain is not excruciating...but it has gotten to the point where i've winced and said "ow" out loud. Today when i was walking.. twice, the pain in which i think could be my left ovary... got quite bad and i couldn't stand up straight, it just hurt too much. When i put the slightest amount of pressure on the spot.. it hurts and feels quite odd... i don't really know how to explain how it feels. I don't know why, but i'm almost scared to bring this up with my mother. I know that cysts do form on young females' ovaries sometimes when ovulating... and i've heard they do cause a discomfort.....but i'm just worried it might be more than just a temporary cyst. I need moral support here! lol What should i do? Wait it out a day or two longer? or have that dreaded talk with my mother about going to a gyno?
My mom had an ovarian cyst a couple years ago. Most symptoms include ab. pains like you described & heavy/irregular periods. Check out www.webmd.com sometime. If anything else goes awry, I'd see a gyno if I were you. Hope you feel better.
If it gets really bad, definitely go to a gyne. It's better than leaving it too long and ending up in worse trouble than you had before. Sometimes they can catch them in time and give you meds (like putting you on BC) to take the cyst away - if that's what you have, of course. Anyway do keep up informed, and good luck
As for "that dreaded talk" with your mother, keep in mind that this probably has no bearing on whether you have had sex... Just tell her what you've told us -- that you're having weird pains & where it hurts. I don't know enuf about cysts to say what I think it is, but I do think you should get to a doctor... It may be something else that none of us would think of, since you phrased it as a suspected cyst. Even if she gets you in to the family doctor, not a gyno, immediately, s/he should have enuf general knowledge to offer a better diagnosis that any of us could & can give you a referral to a gyno if needed (which also avoids discussing with mom why you need a gyno, not a normal doc!).
Sounds like a cyst. I get large ones myself quite often, mine get twice as big as my ovaries. I suggest seeing a doctor about it regardless, to get an ultrasound. There are a few things they can do for you, one is using birth control to keep the cysts from getting so large and painful. You don't want those things to burst, trust me, it doesn't feel so good. PM me if you have any specific questions about it!
I don't really know anything about cysts, but I have gotten severe stomach cramps that can be centred to one side or the other, and have been known to last for up to a day and a half. And it was more painful than me just saying "ow" outloud... more like me curled up in pain on the couch. Usually it was gas, or some weird muscle-pulled thing (my body likes to screw itself up pretty damn often). Why don't you just go ask your doc, or visit a walkin clinic and ask them to check it out?
Well, before checking up again on this thread last night, i talked with my mom about it. This morning when i rolled out of bed, i couldn't stand up straight...and i started to cry because the pain was so overwhelming (I personally find that amazing, i am not one to cry when pain hits) I have been laying down curled up almost all day...now i am getting extremely weak and dizzy.. and i'm still in pain.. i don't know if i did the right thing by taking some of my perscribed Codiene (for migraines) to ease the pain, but it did help..and i can walk without hunching over.. but i'm getting weaker and more dizzy by the hour, although i'm eating. I was being stubborn today and told my mother i wanted to wait and see if this pain goes away by tomorrow morning, and if not, she's taking me to the hospital or the doctors..depending on which pops into her mind first i guess. Ihmurria, I sometimes feel like that too... how i describe it to people is "i feel like a little bird that just ate some rice"... hahahaa.. yeah... it does hurt! "(my body likes to screw itself up pretty damn often). " i had to laugh at that. i'm with you on that one, completely! heheh
Sweetie, if you have been sexually active you NEED to see a doctor. On the off chance that you are having an ectopic pregnancy. Probably not what this is, but the pain is really severe for mittershmitz. (Ovulation pain.) And ovulation pain usually only lasts a day.
SOmetimes they do need to remove cysts...they're dangerous once they get past something like 10 centimeters. I'm keepin my 3 centimeter one..it keeps me company ;-)
Your gyno. can very easily feel and tell if you have a cyst or not. I get them pretty frequently. The last one I had ruptured...ouch. They say BC helps, but I get them while on birth control.
Please go see an OB/GYN! That kind of pain needs attention! I experience pain during ovulation, but nothing like what you described. Is there any possibility that you might be pregnant? Take care of yourself, and let us know how you are doing! Much peace.
I get them while on BC too, but they don't get as large. And if they don't get as large there is less chance of them bursting (which sounds like you may have just went through that one, and it isn't so nice feeling...) If you are concerned about being honest to your gyno because of your mother, just ask her to please leave the room during the exam, and then you will have the chance to ask any kind of questions you want to your doctor. You can even tell him/her to keep it under raps with your mother, and they should respect that. In the meantime, use a heating pad and those painkillers you have, and relax. Get better!!
GO TO THE GYNO NOW....don't wait...get the balls to talk to ur mom...could be more serious than you think...we women are complex with regards to the ovaries an stuff...GO PLEASE!!!!
Well, as i said earlier, i had talked with my mother. The pain finally stopped after about 6 days... Wednesday being the worst. no more pain.. i'm on my period now.. after i get off of my period.. i'm going to go be put on birth control... my mother says that she had these kinds of pains when she was my age too... and they lasted for 5-6 days.. and when she went to the doctors they basically just said her body was ready to have babies....that she was VERY VERY fertile and blah blah blah. since the pain stopped, and i'm not having any kinds of troubles..... we didn't go to the doctors. Buuut... we're goin' to next week! birth control.. hmm....
