Sincere question... I have a condition that requires me to go to a pain management doctor for pain medication. It appears that I have a side effect where any opiate causes my skin to crawl. Are Opiates the only resource for pain medications? Are there any other pain medications that fall outside the opiate family? So far, I've been prescribed a number of pain meds but due to the fact that I am struggling after a couple of layoffs last year, I can only afford the generics and the generics seem to be always from the opiate family.

    Regards,
    Larry W.

Skin crawl? as in it itches constantly? that's just a normal side effect of opiates.. when it comes to pain management.. i cannot lie.. opiates bring optimal pain relief..

you could switch to plain ol mix of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen.. to help with pain and swelling.. but obviously will not bring optimal pain relief like your opiate filled prescription brings..

benadryl or hydroxyzine .. will reduce itching..
