Hi everybody. I just got my dreads a week ago and I think it's about time I started my own timeline.

I convinced my wife to do the dreads which wasn't easy since she didn't like the idea of me getting them at all. In the end she has been wonderful and very supportive at all times. We decided to backcomb using locking peppa and leaving elastics on the roots for four or five days to make sure the dreads don't fall apart. No wax for me thx.

I wanted thin dreads so we took bunches of hair of about 4 mm in diameter which made 78 dreads on my head. I thought that maybe they would maybe double in size or something like that but they are PHAAAAATTT. I suppose they will tighten up but I doubt I will get the 8-10mm dreads I was after. In any case whatever they turn out like I LOVE THEM. I think they are a lot of fun and I'm glad I decided to get them done.

This is my hair a couple of months ago with no dreads.

Just minutes after they where made.

This is day four right before washing them for the first time. I think most people recommend going longer without washing but my scalp was itching quite a bit (maybe from the locking peppa) so I just went for it.

And the next morning day five straight out of bed.

Yesterday I took out the rubber bands and I'm not palm rolling so much so they look a little looser. Still going good tough.

If you've something nice to say about my dreads I'd love to hear it.

Wow they really suit you! Welcom to the forums. They'll get skinnier in time. Good to see you're not using the wax! I see you're in Salou. I used to holiday there all the time. Do they still have that huge ferris wheel?

Those look killer already! With time I think they will turn out great, and will definately shrink up a tad, but they are quite supreme at the moment.:cheers2:

    They really suit you too:D

Thanks for all the nice comments. As you can see in the update pic I need all the support I can get. I can still feel the dreads nice and tight in their centers but the outsides have become very loose making me look very weird.

Surprisingly everybody has been very nice and positive (except my mother).

BTW the locking peppa was mostly cause I thought it was worth a try and had nothing to loose but also I thought it would give my wife more self confidence while making the dreads.

Ya, they do unravel quite a bit. If you want you can try and tighten the bottoms of the dreads a bit more to hold the dread a bit better.... but teh loosening is pretty much inevitable unless you use wax to hold it all in. Eventually it will all tighten with time.
