My DragonForce Rant

Ok first off my sick of all this little wannabe "metal" kids bashing on DF! Why? because if it wasnt for Guitar Hero then you would of never know about DF! so how sad is it that you depend on a video game to feed you your music......so piss off.

second "studio"force? are you fking kidding me? how stupid would it be to record some thing then play it faster then you can and then go on tour? DF DOESNT do this...if you see them live the play their SHIT PERIOD!


just remember if it wasnt for Guitar hero you would of never know them........

 

I thought this was going to be a rant ABOUT Dragonforce. I feel betrayed

 

The problem with Dragonforce isn't the fact that their music is so repetitive and cheesy that its hard to take seriously sometimes. Valley of the Damned is sick as shit, Sonic Firestorm is pretty sick as well, Inhuman Rampage has its good points, but Ultra Beatdown sounds like a fucking techno album with guitars as the main instrument instead of synths.

 

anyone who just reads the bands name should be enough of a clue to know that its going to be cheese their for its a band for fun......their not here to be fuiking U2 and save the world......

 

I'd heard and disliked Dragonforce long before Guitar Hero, which I have never played. I just don't like their music. Does absolutely nothing for me in any way whatsoever.

 

Same here. Never even watched somebody else play Guitar hero :tongue:
Valley of the damned is the only song I liked. I also heard a demo version which sounded even better because the album version is a bit over the top. The other songs I've heard couldn't hold my interest I'm afraid.

 

Of course they are trying to be cheesy, but there are plenty of power metal bands that are cheesy but still have balls and don't suck.

 

Agreed, it's almost part of the genre that it has some cliché's in vocalstyle, lyrics about dragons, magic swords etc.. If done well it doesn't bother someone who digs good power metal. When there's no good input from the band self it will just be another boring power metal band.

 

My buddy got hit in the head with a full cup of pop at Ozzfest a couple years ago because the whole crowd was throwing shit at them.

I put Dragonforce in the "kiddie metal" section along with Trivium and Avenged Sevenfold.

Most metal is pretty cheesy. "Raining Blood" "Ride the Lightning"
And power metal is pretty much the cheesiest, Iron Maiden being the kings of the cheese. Iron Maiden still manages to reach the top of the list of just about every metal fan.

 

I wouldn't call a band like Iron Maiden cheesy. Their lyrics are usually really well written and about significant events in history or literature.

I could go on forever, but the point is that power metal IS cheesy, Dragonforce just takes it way over the top as a shitty gimmick that gets old real quick.

Two of their most popular songs, and both uber cheesy and stereotypical. It's the exact wording and the delivery that lets it be cool too.

Hammerfall is another good cheesy power metal band, but I've only heard a few songs, so.. =P

Iron Maiden isnt cheesy! the only cheesy thing Maiden has done is when bruce puts on a masquerade mask for certain songs on stage....

I'm pretty sure she's saying that metal in general sucks ass man. Matter of fact I'm positive thats what she's saying. Anyway Guitar Hero does suck, and so does Dragon Force because they're both fucking sellouts. I'm sorry but any band who willingly gives out their music for money is sad in my book. I like bands who play for the music...

 

I wouldn't have heard of them because I don't listen to shitty pop music.
