Hell, this is near Mediterranean climes yet. Did a morning's worth of post-Thanksgiving chores (post office, pet food, bread, gas station, ATM) all happily barefoot. Going barefoot feels great!
Right on! I played a round of disc golf in when it was 50 out. Nothing like roaming the woods without shoes on.
Yeah, we know, nuspieds. This forum is frequented by barefooters. And your posts are getting boring in their superficial nothingness...
We just received 8" of snow, really, our first of the long winter to come. So, I've hit that roadblock which limits me each year. Still I have yet to put shoes on, and I'm still getting around in sandals or flops, which I have to do from working outside. As of now, it's still not cold, so I can be a bit reckless. But by this weekend I think we get our first shot of the dangerous cold, so I will have to be careful.
Great to have you back! Good north country perspective and rugged barefooting. I went "skating" barefoot on surprisingly wet black ice and flipped over. With the cuts and swelling, I succumbed to shoes for the moment in the 5" of snow. The early snow cover will lead to significant radiant cooling and temps well below 0 F - the barefooting may be over for a while. Our European friends may not know how lucky they are.
Ouch - that must've hurt (the flipping over part, that is...) Oh yeah, I know I am among the lucky bunch with still quite mild December temperatures - 7.2°C/45F currently with quite a bit of rain (and as far as that radar picture on the weather web site shows, more rain coming up). Still mild enough for me to bare my feet to the world! I also remember being on the flipside, when in 2005 we hade some snow chaos in the central western part of Germany (end of November), which even ended in power cuts in rural regions of North Rhine Westfalia known as the Münsterland. Even in the Ruhr area, where I live, we had some 30 cm (almost 12 in) of snow within four hours... that was a time, when barefooting was kind of out of my league, too. I'd settle for something between such extremes. Wiggling toes, soon to be touched by raindrops, ~*Ganesha*~
