and hair can look waxxy afterwards because wax isn't water soluble so it doesn't wash out. Can't comment on Bronners because I don't like it.
what did you put in them? over time you can get most stuff out. If you used actual wax based stuff that'll come out with heat, hot showers over time or using hair straighteners, but most of the stuff that is marketed as dreadlock wax is oil based, theres a better word for what its made from but I can't remember =/ but either way their both water insoluble. tbh I would recommend hair straighteners over palm rolling, both imo are pretty useless in the long run of actually trying to get dreadlocks but hair straighteners don't fuck your wrists up or take as long and can melt stuff out. I use the liquid DHHQ shampoo...which I gather is just some cheap none-residue ex-ma shampoo they re-label >.> but Bronners makes my hair feel rubbery while washing so I wasn't a big fan. Though I use 'real' shampoo every week to make sure my hair actually gets washed due to not trusting anything that actually says 'for dreadlocks' on it.
yeah, i use the same shampoo, but i put knottyboy wax in em, only kind i could easily pick up without going on a wild goose chase.. and there's not really anything to "melt" out.. my dreads aren't sticky/waxy.. at all.. even if they 'look' like they are..
cody, I think they look good for what your going for. if you want well maintained locks...then it sounds like your on the right path and I cant wait to see them when theyre more mature! =]
u live in 100 degree whether all fuckn year round? that shits to much to keep on ur head man. u sweat and it just builds up on your scalp, its fuckn disgusting feeling. i play paintball and starting division 4 tournaments next year in january/febuary, i would rather not have paintball shells and paint chunked up in my hair and try to wash that shit out every time i play. plus a small ass mask over the hair, that shit would pull on your scalp and hurt like fuck. and the hair bouncing up and down when u run would be annoying as fuck. im growing my hair out and not combing it, if i get dreads in a year or three im not ganna be fuckn saying "its been such a journey. ive learned so much about myself these past three years. i feel more spiritually intact with my innerself." its just ganna be what the fuck ever man, my hairs all knotted up on my scalp and i dont really give a fuck. and before anyone says it, im not in anyway upset by the comment, i just say fuck and shit a lot.
"in essence or effect, but not in fact" virtually none.. uhm... i still put wax on them, put i wasn't rubbing chunks of it onto my dreads.. i would rub my index finger and thumb across the wax just so they'd be sticky.
so true, I'll grow em back if I move further north, but I was dying this summer. It was okay for a while but they got gnarly, smelled funky when I combed out the ones underneath. funny how seth, np and I all ended up losing our dreads after the southern summer, good fucking god it was between 95-110 every day. anyway codyhicks, I think your dreads look waxy as fuck, I would quit if I were you.
I think the point that everyone is tryin to get through your nugget, is that wax, really no matter when or how much ya put iin... doesnt just wash out. Yea, it soaks into the center of the dread over time... but does that sound healthy? Try and picture slicing your dread in half... ya want that gooie~ness in there for potentially... years? Dig around this forum man, dozens of stories of people vs wax. Even the people that have realized this mistake... and changed their ways, also realized that a do~over was needed. Fact is, its in there to stay. If you are okay with that... then BE okay with it and don't feel the need to defend yourself here. P.S. Hai everyone
Pfft, you average annual temp is like 70-80. Try living in oz Anyway excuses are excuses, it's still a dreadfail
