I believe that trees are our ancestors and want to worship them. Our ancestors ancestors are essentially trees aswell and I believe the oldest trees are gods.

So basically on my families farm we own a barnyard in which I want to bring the masses of people to come worship with me. I've currently been worshipping the trees every Thursday after work but want more people to come join me.

I know this will be quite a tedious task but its something I really want to do!
I live on a farm and own a large barn yard in which I can bring the masses to come pray to my god (the trees).

I am particularily fond of our local gumtree so I might make him the king of gods and the other trees can be minor gods. What do you all reckon?

Anytips on starting this religion? I want lots of people to come so I might put flyers out there and call random houses and advise them of the current happening.

    Thanks in advance,
    Enjoy

there are several ways of looking at this.
we all start our own religions with the uniqueness of our personal beliefs, whether we intend to or not.
major beliefs which are revealed once every thousand years, give or take a few hundred, are up to something greater then ourselves to choose one of us to be channeled by.
that slot for this millinium was already chosen more then a hundred years ago.

but there's nothing wrong with being honest with yourself about what you feel in your own heart.
it may even come to bennifit our world.
but my point is this: beliefs which are bennificial are not generally started by anyone who chooses themselves to set out to start one.

i'm not saying it can't be done.
i'm not saying everything we think we know can't be mistaken.
i'm only pointing out my own current perceptions of my own imperfect and limited understanding.

    Insane as jesus.

I currently have 20 people with there names down attending my church this thursday. 14 in which I've never met. I'll try get some pictures this thursday during pray. Every sunday we are planning to plant one single tree each. Each tree is being named.

At the next gathering I am going to bring up the idea of getting the tree names tattooed on our bodies. Like how people have there childrens names tattooed on them.

I think one very potentially significant portion of your services could involve making Terra Preta for gardening / farming and provide a source of income for your endeavors as well as a way to respectfully manage deadwood and fallen branches by letting them continue their great work('s?)

Terra Preta, worth a google especially if you're in an agricultural environment.

    I'll come help plant trees!
But only if you are serving kool-aid.

a worshipful relation to trees is also old Celtic . i received this as child when my parents walked with me singing in the spring-time blooming forest .

yes , the trees themselves will teach you the way
    in their own words
that you may make these words , too , in the whispering ways .

a willingness to die for it coupled with an unwillingness to kill for it.
beliefs are nurtured by the blood of pacifist martyrs.

not that dying for it is the true test either. most didn't. but virtually all were put through one kind of living hell or another. the willingness to accept THAT, is the test.

no one succeeds in starting a religion without accepting the reality that they will be kicked and spit on. only by being too humble to be humiliated is that test passed. and it is one human in thousand willing to face it, and one in a hundred million if not more, who can actually pass it.

having the ego to want to start one is self defeating right there from the beginning.

and yet one can, demonstrate the example of faith in one's personal beliefs, and those beliefs can be anything the person living them honestly believes will make the world a better place, not for him or her self, but for everyone, whatever happens to that one person themselves.

In a weeks time we are all marching through the city I hate to use the wording "Protesting" but we are essentially doing that. Large areas of tree's are being cut down for some goverment desal plant. The gods are not happy and unless we doing something drastic we all will be in alot of trouble.

We just want to open everyone's eyes.

I currently have 100 people participating on this one.
