My parents are retiring, selling up and moving to their second home in Poland in a few months time. I have been offered the chance to go with them but it'll mean getting tied up in a 9-5 job, going against what I believe and want to do in my life. It is my belief though that I do need to act now if I want to avoid that.

I would love if I could find a commune in the UK with friendly people who have similar views on life to me. Ideally it would be a place where meditation and use of the sacred herb are allowed or encouraged, as I would like to grow a few plants if I am able to. However this is not necessary and most importantly I'm just looking for a place I can meet some really nice people and help out as best as I can :)

As far as my skills go, my main strength lies in technology, which I know isn't the most desired skill in a commune, but I'm willing to learn and try almost anything. No work is too hard if it helps a friend :)

If anyone could give me advice on where to look, or even put me directly in contact with a commune that would suit me, then please post. Thanks in advance, this means a lot to me.

    Peace and love :)

Both Stepping Stones and Earthworm are rural housing co-operatives based in/near the welsh/english border... they are beautiful, id strongly recommend checking them out!

Hi RT , why not start your own in Cambridge, we did in the 80's , the old Salvation Army on Mill Rd , we turned into a commune, some say Squatted!!!!, about 18 of us lived there happily for 6mths,great fun and we carried on squatting communially in Cambridge for a few yrs after at various places , take bac empty properties, can help u with legal side, we successful challenged eviction through county court, and left the army looking quite embarressed to say the least ,good luck
